BlueStacks 2 lets Windows users run multiple Android apps at once

BlueStacks, the popular Android emulator for computers has reached a huge milestone and is releasing its biggest update yet. The company has announced that it has been downloaded more than 100 million times so far, showing huge interest, and to celebrate it's adding a number of new features.

The better that Android apps and games become, the more growth the company is seeing. BlueStacks SVP, Business Development + Marketing told Android Central:

"Whenever there is a new hit Android game, we see a boost in growth. Basically, as mobile penetration and awareness increases, installs of BlueStacks increase in kind. We follow the hits."

In BlueStacks 2, they've married gameplay and app discovery, meaning when you click an ad a new tab will open so you can continue playing without being interrupted. Additionally, BlueStacks 2 will incorporate the ability to run multiple apps at the same time in different tabs, which is a first. This is great for running messaging and gaming, or news and messaging apps at the same time. You can grab the latest version of BlueStacks now.

  • Wow.... That's just amazing Posted via the Android Central App
  • Does this pretty much just emulate games or can it emulate any android app? Might have to try this out...
  • Any Android application.
  • Do you think Google has considered buying them to use it for bringing Android to desktop? Just a thought. Posted via the Android Central App
  • By that logic, apple should do the same to bring iOS to the desktop? With emulators, you will lose performance. I run osx in VMware and it's bearable but nothing compared to using it on a proper apple computer. Posted via the Android Central App
  • It's a full Android emulator. I use it on my Microsoft Surface and while it can be a bit slow at times,I now have the best of both worlds (with the best bit getting a native Google Play Music app capable of offline playback)
  • Tried it on my very high end Octa Mac Pro and it was slow. I cant imagine how it would run on an average PC.
  • Works like a champ on my ThinkPad 4GB Ram lapper
  • Still based on kitkat... Posted via the Android Central App
  • I hope this version is more reliable than the 1st version (which I have). When I click the "update" button nothing happens, there's not update available.
  • Anyone tried it yet? I have, and I'm ****** off I can't pick GNow Launcher as default home screen as on BlueStacks 1.
  • I have it installed for Clash of clans. i need the bigger sceeen as my phone is like 3cm by 3 cm ( exaggeration).
the ALLEGED MULTIPLE TABS FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK. IVE SENT IN MULTIPLE REQUESTS ON HOW TO GET IT TO WORK. ONLY TO BE MET WITH COPY/PASTE RESPONSES WHO WANT TO THANK ME FOR MY SUGGESTION OF HAVING BLUESTACKS WITH MULTIPLE TABS.
  • Except it does though..... you can send in all the requests you like but it won't change the limits of YOUR hardware. i run multiple tabs frequently with multiple APPS running in said multiple tabs without issue... either get a better device or embrace your restrictions and stop harassing customer support with impossible tasks/ ridiculous complaints
