Xperia Z2 Tablet

Buy from Sony and get a 3-year warranty for a penny

Sony's latest tablet offering, the not-so-elegantly named Xperia Z2 Tablet, is now on sale in the UK. Sony has put it up for sale on its own online store with prices starting at £399 for the 16GB Wifi-only model. Double the on-board storage bumps the price to £449, while the 16GB LTE version will cost £499.

If you buy one directly from Sony, you can also take an optional 3-year warranty for just 1p more. You're not necessarily planning on keeping the same tablet for that time, but for a penny it's pretty much a no brainer.

For your money you're getting about the latest and greatest in terms of internals of any Android tablet. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU, 3GB of RAM, an 8.1MP rear camera, 1080p 10.1-inch display and Android 4.4 KitKat. Oh, and as is traditional now with high-end Sony devices, it's also water resistant.

It's pricey, no question. But it's also a pretty stunning looking – and feeling – tablet. And it's crazy thin. For more, check out our first look from Mobile World Congress back in February.

I want a Play Edition!!!!!

I'm anxiously awaiting the US version so I can give my Prime a proper burial.

Any idea how much it will cost in US/Canada? Will they just stick a dollar sign in front (so $400) or will they use current exchange rate ( so $650-700) ?

As soon as there is data bundle available on EE with this tablet I shall invest.

If I buy this and then a play edition comes out, can it be flashed with the play edition software?

Not really interested in this tablet, but the Sony Xperia Z2 seems like a classy device.
