NVIDIA got some hopes up earlier today when it posted a Shield Android TV with 500GB of storage.

Unfortunately, the version — which is made as a development kit — was put up in error alongside the actual shipping device, which will cost $199 and have just 16GB of storage. We received the following statement from NVIDIA on the matter:

A SHIELD partner development kit was erroneously listed on our website today as a product. For clarification, NVIDIA has not launched a 500 GB SKU for SHIELD. The website has been updated with our announced SHIELD product, available soon at $199.99.

Although the $299 model with that gigantic jump in storage won't be available for the general public, we'll all have the option of expanding the less expensive model with our own removable SDcard storage. The Shield Android TV box is still slated for a May release.
