Netflix

If you were experiencing issues running Netflix on your phone or tablet with Android 4.3, you'll want to grab this one. Netflix has been updated, and the words everyone wanted to hear are in the change log:

  • Fixes and optimization for devices running Android 4.3.
  • On the new Nexus 7 HD, this version requires all Android 4.3 system updates to be installed.

This is of special interest to everyone using a Chromecast with their Android 4.3-powered device, and an update we're happy to see. Give it a try, and let everyone know how it works out for you in the comments below. You can grab the update from the Google Play link above.

Hopefully "Profile"support is coming soon.

+1, that's what I was hoping to see in the changelog.

Actually, it's a proven fact that if you sleep 8-9 hours a day on a consistent schedule, you'll increase your iq by at least10 points, reduce your chances for heart disease, stroke, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, and premature aging.

Another new feature is that when using Netflix on my PS3, I can control playback from my nexus 4. Even has a persistent notification with play, stop, etc. Haven't tried it on my 360 or WD Live Plus yet.

ne0ne says:

I've been able to cast to my Internet TV

Finally! This was sooo annoying on my Nexus 4 when using Chromecast

Ratnok says:

I'm happy for the update, but I never ran into this issue with my Nexus 4. I do have problems with YouTube on Chromecast though....

Still runs like BUTT on the DROID DNA. Any lists (genres, search results, etc.) don't scroll (you can swipe with your finger, but it just jitters - not up or down following you're swiping). Been like this since November. Sucks.

I just got a new Nexus 7 (2013) and Netflix was running fine but I updated anyway. So far just grief. The update seemed to go fine. The app opened and I could see my queue but every time I tried to start a steam Id see an error that said "unable to contact to netfix try again later". Remember it was just working fine just prior to the update. So I removed the app and tried it again but now I cant even install it because of "invalid package" error. Many others are complaining of the same. DON'T UPGRADE!

patchs says:

I had the same issue, just reinstalled and it works again.

BobbyBeans says:

Cool. I'll try it again when I get home.

BobbyBeans says:

Nope. Still getting package error. I had an old copy v1.8.0 and it did install but after streaming for 5 seconds the video freezes. So I tried the upgrade again but same package failure. Come one Netflix straighten this out!!

Parker Clack says:

It was working just fine on my Nexus 7 with 4.3 until this latest update. I don't
want to uninstall/reinstall it for fear I won't be able to get it load at all.

Anyone know where I can get a hold of the previous version?

Try deleting the app data. You'll have to sign in again but my problems were solved after doing so with the new update.

Has anybody checked to see if this fixes the ChromeCast issue on certain handsets running JellyBean 4.1.2(Bionic, Razr, Maxx, etc.)? Here's a description of the issue: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-chromecast/301496-chromecast-bug...

This update completely broke Netflix on my Samsung Galaxy S4 which still has Android OS 4.2.2! Somebody notify Netflix of the problem. Package file is Invalid!

Parker Clack says:

"Somebody notify Netflix of the problem. Package file is Invalid!"

Believe me there are about 100 people letting Netflix know on Google Play.

Hopefully, it won't take them long to get the fix done.

Thanks. That worked great. I just went in and deleted the app data and then a force stop. I then restarted the app, signed in and all is well. In fact the video quality improved too.
