Motorola Droid Ultra

Attention, owners of the Verizon Motorola Droid Ultra, Droid Mini and Droid Maxx: Motorola has just sent out invites for a software "soak test" for the trio of devices. Nothing definite, but that could well mean Android 4.4 KitKat is on its way. (Or it could be a lesser version. We've got our fingers crossed.)

It generally takes a few days for the soak test update to push — and it's entirely possible the update will push to everyone — soak test or not — at the same time. It's happened before.

Stay tuned.

Motorola starting software soak test for Verizon Droids

Isn't that supposed to be confidential? I mean, that's what they always did in the past, its supposed to be confidential. I wouldn't know this time around because if I was part of the soak test it would be confidential, but I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be confidential.

Why wouldn't they? The Droids have the exact same internals and software as the X except for the design. Why not utilize them with the exact same benefits as the X.

The latest 3 Droids have near identical software to the Moto X.

The last round of Droids last year from Motorola had very stock-like software also.

If they didn't do that, there would just be more fragmentation. And we don't want that.

I was part of the last soak test and it was a very positive experience. Got my email for this one and can't wait until I get the new software.

This is good news for those with the latest Droids. Now it's only a matter of weeks before my Droid from 2012 get's an update I hope.

I hope this means Kit Kat is coming soon, and I hope it brings Tap to Pay to Google Wallet. That's really all my Ultra is missing

Now this is positive news

As per request, comments containing "THIS" and "AGREED" are hereby outlawed. Use "Spot on old chap" or something similar. Also by request, I have increased the size of my signature and added a few more dashes. No one should suggest how another person posts. Unless it is that "FIRST" crap. That absolutely adds nothing.

Anyways... This is great news. I've been searching every day since the update was confirmed for my RAZR M for any hint at when I'll be getting it. If the new droids are getting it withing a week or two, we could possibly get it by end of January!

Really, I'm just looking forward to getting that Bluetooth Low Energy to keep my MAXX's battery going while connected to the Pebble. Everything else is just bonus.

I am hoping with the updated Bluetooth, that the Droid Maxx will finally sync directly with my fitbit, and I can use it as a trusted device. Fingers crossed.

Don't bet on it. I had an X (returned it due to poor battery life). It didn't work with the Fitbit.
