Every year, Hollywood gathers for The Academy Awards to celebrate movies and the talent that comes with them. Actors and actresses walk across the red carpet with big smiles and designer clothing. But this year will be a little different. Hollywood's talent will be given something else to show off at the Academy Awards. Motorola will be giving out gold Motorola Xooms to the hosts and the nominees in the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director categories. The snazzy Xoom will also come with a custom leather case, too.

As for the rest of us, we can just pick up the regular all-black Xoom this Thursday. [Engadget]

Forget an Oscar award, Motorola is giving out golden Xooms

I guess its great PR to have a celeb carrying your device at a hihgly publicized event like this. Im sure most of them won't even bother turning it on since its not branded with an Apple logo and will toss it in the closet with other expensive products handed out to them.

I agree with that most of the time, however in this case, Motorola is pretty clearly just promoting their product, because once consumers see their favorite celebs using a product, they'll want to use it (sadly that's the way society works).

Advertisement. You should know by now that 'celebrities' are nothing but walking-talking billboards. Everything they wear and drive...all advertisement. Most of the shit they wear or drive they don't even own. The product is 'rented' for advertisement and returned after the event.

The celebs won't toss these away, they'll give them to their assistants who will then post them on Ebay.

Get yer bids ready

I found a simple and basic for the same context.. just give it a try and it works great!
