With the Motorola Droid X and the Motorola Droid Pro having already got their Gingerbread love, it's now time for the Droid 2 Global to get the same attention. If you head on over to the Verizon website, you'll see the updated software update info page is now available for viewing and as we know from the past -- that typically indicates a soak-test is coming and then a full roll-out to the masses. Needless to say, it's coming soon and we'll be sure to let you all know as soon as it happens.

Droid 2 Global Gingerbread update set to roll out soon

I'm so BS with Moto right now.
Another 'flagship' product left in the dust.
Droid 2 should have received it right along with X.
WHAT IS THE HOLD UP?
Moto and Verizon need to speak up!

LOL....

You do realize that HTC makes the Thunderbolt, right? This article & everyone's comment above yours is about Motorola phones.

You are barking up the wrong tree...

I don't know about the software builds, but the D2 & D2G have different processors (1Ghz vs. 1.2Ghz) & different cell radios (3G vs. 3G + SIM) so that would obviously make it require a different Gingerbread build, I would assume.

Hopefully the D2 & R2D2 don't get left out in the cold since Motorola/Verizon switched to the D2G within a few months after initial release.

Still wish my Droid Pro would get the update. I will just have to keep hoping that it gets it at some point, as all the screen shots that have been posted look good.

you can manually download and apply the update with ease. just hit the droid pro forums and the instructions are right there.

Are you seriously posting this inaccurate false article? THE DROID PRO HAS NOT RECEIVED THE GB UPDATE! Verizon as of right freaking now has no info on a GB release for that phone. Just because u can root ur phone and download a leaked copy doesn't mean its been officially released. Wtf y'all are supposed to be a respected news service and have posted several articles about this that are false. Call moto. Call vzw and do some research! Period

Actually you are the one who needs to do the research. You do NOT need to be rooted to install the Droid Pro Gingerbread update (in fact if you are rooted it may cause problems). It is true that Verizon has yet to actually push the update, but the update is an officially signed update with release keys and most likely comes from Moto directly or VZW TA (Technical Acceptance). Anyone with an UNROOTED Droid Pro can install Gingerbread and it works just fine.

Why would they not acknowledge that they (Moto VZW) know anything about a GB update then? Why is there not a similar page from VZW about the DROID Pro? On their website they acknowledge the D2 global and the X BUT NOT THE PRO UPDATE WHY? Was it a secret release? Underground? Classified? It has not received the gingerbread ota update. Period. Why not announce everyphone that can download a GB rom? Just in Gingerbread is released to everyone with an Android smartphone. Yay.
