Verizon HTC Droid Incredible Review

63

Over the past six months, the Droid -- and its slightly scary "DROID!" battle cry -- has become the public face of Android smartphones. Today, we bring you the latest in the line -- the Verizon Droid Incredible, which will be available starting April 29 (you can preorder it now) for $199 with a two-year contract.

Special Coverage:
HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon

The Droid Incredible (henceforth simply the Incredible) is a kinder, more gentle smartphone than Motorola's initial offering. It also replaces the Droid Eris -- both devices are manufactured by HTC and feature large touchscreens in lieu of a keyboard.

And the Incredible brings with it the latest version of the Sense user interface, making Android even easier, more customizable and more eye-pleasing than ever.

The buildup leading to the announcement and release of the Incredible has kept the Android faithful in a frenzy for weeks, and the phone should be a strong attraction for those looking for their first smartphone, or for those looking to make the switch to Android.

Click on through for our impressions as we take a look at the Incredible and see if it lives up to its name.

Just how afraid of Android is Apple?

30

Our pal Rene at TiPB raises an interesting point: Look at how much of a nerdgasm has been created over these purported iPhone G4 (not iPhone 4G!) pictures that Engadget scored, just as pre-orders began for the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible. Put on your tinfoil hats for a minute, people. Do you really think Apple's as petty and paranoid about Google, Android and/or Verizon to leak this out on its own? (Personally, I wouldn't put it past them, though you'd think they'd come up with a better cover story than "lost it in a bar.") Anyhoo, let's hear it, folks. Whatcha think?

Sign up now to be notified when Adobe begins its Flash, AIR beta programs

6

Oh, my, you all certainly are excited about signing up to be notified by e-mail for when Adobe begins its Flash 10.1 and AIR betas for Android. And so are we. But do note that you're only signing up to be notified when the beta begins. It doesn't mean you're actually getting Flash next week (or even getting accepted into the beta program, for that matter), and we're not even sure exactly what's going to be involved in the beta, or just how usable it's going to be. Not to burst the Flash bubble, it's just that all you're doing right now is signing up to get a future e-mail. That's all. And here are the links to do it. [Flash 10.1 beta notificationAdobe AIR beta notification] Thanks to everyone -- and we do mean everyone -- who sent this in.

Video - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible in action

31

Some great stuff rolls in during the wee hours, and this is a doozy.  An actual demonstration video of the one and only Droid Incredible by the fellas at nerdstalkertv, shot during the 99% conference in New York.  It's an awful nice walk through of the software, and it really shows just how fast this phone is.  There's not much we haven't figured out already, but who cares?  It's a great video of a monster of a phone and a must see.

Hit the break for the video, keep the tissues to wipe your chin handy. Thanks, Patrick!
