From the looks of the image above, it appears as though Target will begin selling the Wifi-only version of the Motorola Xoom tablet in the coming days. Functional displays have hit some stores already, and inventory is rolling in, so it looks like we can add Target to the list of places where you'll be able to snag yourself a Xoom.

Thanks, anon!

doubleTwist adds AirPlay support to stream to Apple TV

5

DoubleTwist, the well known "iTunes equivalent for Android" has now added Apple TV streaming support. The doubleTwist Player is a free app, but users have the option to upgrade to AirSync for $4.99 if they want  to be able to sync their media without having to plug-in their device. AirSync also can stream to Xbox or the Playstation 3.

Now the company has been able to get their streaming technology working with Apple TV, giving Apple TV owners who use Android devices AirPlay capability. If you are a doubleTwist, AirSync and Apple TV user, you'll be able to stream your media seamlessly to your tv. Both your Android device and your Apple TV have to be on the same wireless network.

Once they are, go into Settings in your doubleTwist Player app. Then click on AirTwist & AirPlay, which will give you the page like the screenshot above. Simply check the box to enable streaming to those devices. Once that is finished,  your device should pop up on your Apple TV as one of the options to stream from. That's it! Once it's done, you should be able to enjoy your music and videos from your Android device on your Apple TV. doubleTwist also announced that streaming capabilities to Sonos devices are here, but that is currently in beta.

Find links to the doubleTwist Player and AirSync apps after the break.

Android Quick App: Giant Fighting Robots

6

Youtube link for mobile viewing

From Laminar Research, the developer that brought us X-Plane, we now present Giant Fighting Robots! We said, GIANT. FIGHTING. ROBOTS!

The premise is simple:

Aliens have invaded our outer colonies with no warning, and we are madly trying to raise a defense as our outposts fail, scrounging up anything we can do defend ourselves with.

You will command an All Terrain Attack Walker, or ATAW ... They are calling them Giant Fighting Robots' in the press now.

The controls ... well, if you've played X-Plane, you'll be used to things here. You have a throttle for going forward and backward, and tilt the phone to steer. Arm your weapons and fire away.

As you'll see in our video, the graphics aren't 100 percent, the sounds are simple and the gameplay is a bit rudimentary. But with a name like GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS (OK, the all-caps are our doing), we just couldn't pass it up. The game's $1.99 in the Android Market, and we've got download links after the break.

Zipcar for Android now in the Android Market

2

Early last month word slipped about Zipcar and their Android application that was in the works and now the application has finally hit the market. If you're unfamiliar, Zipcar it is a popular metro-based loaner car company that allows people to rent and use cars in a rather non traditional manner. The application does have a disclaimer in the market that it still is a beta version, but don't let that deter you from giving it a shot, and if you notice any bugs be sure to provide feedback! Download links available after the break.

Thanks, tati!
