xperia z3 compact

Very blurry images of what is allegedly the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Android smartphone have made their way to the Internet, a few weeks after photos of the larger Xperia Z3 were posted as well.

The leaks, which come from a Chinese Weibo account, show a smartphone that is supposed to have a 4.6-inch 1080p display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset inside. The source claims that the Xperia Z3 Compact has 3GB RAM and a 20.7 megapixel Exmor RS rear facing camera along with stereo speakers.

Sony has yet to officially announce anything about the larger 5.15-inch Xperia Z3, much less a smaller Compact version of the smartphone. It's possible that the company will reveal the Z3 at the IFA trade show in Berlin in early September. However, until that actually happens, any news or images of either device should be taken with a big grain of salt.

What do you think about the prospect of a smaller version of the Xperia Z3?

As soon as you buy a Sony phone it's virtually out of date. The z4 will prob be announce before z3 released

Im in usa anything that has to do with sony phones should be in a special section out of my sight. I don't buy unicorns.

Well don't you fit the American everything's about me stereotype well.

I know it's the internet, but this IS an American site and dude was just being funny. Obviously, the punch line went way over your head.

Then stop buying from carriers. Got a Z1 Compact brand new for only $350 from eBay.

Put that into perspective. That's an unlocked flagship quality phone with global bands for only $150 more than a carrier branded phone on a two year contract.

The Sony phones are amazing with updates (currently rocking 4.4.4 on my Z1 Compact) and offer a great camera and overall experience. Avoid the carriers at all cost.

I wish I could. But I can't. I'm on T-Mobile and the most valuable feature on their phones is wifi calling/texting. I work in a hospital and it's my only way of communicating with people. Until Google adds the capability into Hangouts I gotta stick with a carrier phone.

I highly suggest you look into Google Voice and Groove IP and set yourself free!! Seriously, look. It'll hold you over until Hangouts intergrates voice (you can text over wifi if other person has Hangouts btw).

I love the Z2 and forgive Sony for the US delay. I don't care about the Z3 because the Specs just leads me to believe to be a carrier exclusive. I'm glad I returned the G3 for this. If Sony supports their US store stronger and continue to make quality products I will follow.

If you're in the US and want a Z2 and don't have a Z2, then you don't want it that badly; and you don't belong in a capitalist country.
Pardon my French.

This is a stupid comment. . Lol. And I'll pardon your ignorance.

If it's really 1080p, 801, 3GB RAM, I will buy one the day it comes out. Best mini/compact phone period.

And to think that my Z1 is just 10 months old... Pretty depressing that it is about to be 2 generations behind...

And warranty issues if not supported. I'm not paying $700 or even $600 got a phone that I got to jump through hoops for warranty. Sending to other countries and all that is not worth the hassle. It's the reason I immediately bought the Z2 and sent back the G3 when it touched down in the US. I'm okay with chancing $2-300 with warranty issues but not $6-700

If the next Nexus really is a 6 inch monstrosity, then yes, I'll be extremely interested in a Z3 Compact. Hopefully it is available in the US soon after announcement, but we all know how that usually goes...

Finally a good looking smaller android device with incredible specs... No compromises

I recently bought the Z1 Compact, wonderful device. I got it knowingly though that there could be another device around the 6-month timeframe that Sony is known for when they are releasing devices. This one might even have the dual front speakers like the Z2...all in all great device, but I will be keeping my Z1 Compact for a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if it even had 4k recording with that RAM. Great stuff in a compact device.

FYI, you can add 4k recording to your Z1 Compact as the specs more than handle it. The tutorial is on XDA.

The Z1 compact suffered from that as well. Droid RAZR M and Droid Mini made great use of its footprint with a 4.3" display.

Seriously. Sony needs to slow the fuck down if they want to see profit every quarter. Do what Apple and Google are doing: release one flagship per year, not every few months. And stop making the bullshit cheap models. Just make the flagship cheap ($399 or less) and it'll sell.

agreed! my contract is up in Oct and was considering the Z2 but given that the Z3 is popping up I think I'll wait to see about the new nexus. My missus has the Z1 and its a handsome bit of kit.

Very excited about the prospect of this phone. Here in Canada you can purchase the Z2 at the Sony store unlocked and use it with your carrier. I hope Sony will give Canadian Sony stores this device. 4.5-4.7 is perfect for me.

Too bad Verizon won't get this phone.
A compact phone with high end specs? You really can't beat that.
