Galaxy S5

A leaked Samsung KitKat update schedule document mentions that the manufacturer is set to roll out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update to the Galaxy S5 later this month, and for the Galaxy S4 in the month of July. An earlier version of the document, which was leaked last month, revealed that the South Korean manufacturer was starting to integrate the latest Android build into the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4.

Announced earlier this month, the Android 4.4.3 update began seeding to Google's Nexus and Play Edition devices along with Motorola's latest line of handsets. The latest leaked document, which comes courtesy of AndroidGeeks, suggests that the octa-core version of the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) and the European model (SM-G900F) will be receiving the update in the month of June.

Once the update is live for these models, it shouldn't be long before other versions of the Galaxy S5 start receiving the update.

The document also states that Android 4.4.3 build is in the final stages of testing for the LTE-A version of the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9506) with the Snapdragon 800 CPU, and that an update will be rolling out next month.

Are you excited that the Galaxy S5 will be able to make the switch to the latest version of Android a few weeks after it was released to AOSP?

Android 4.4.3 update reportedly rolling out to Galaxy S5 this month, Galaxy S4 to follow suit in July

When are they going to learn that if they push updates all at once to every Android, people will use the OS more. None of this BS favoritism for newer devices. Hardware will still entice people to go with the new phones.

Who are they?
Aside from that, practically every one will be using Android world wide. I sense jealousy.

At least you have a great navigation app available, for now.

I believe they have already announced some note 3s getting it.... Cannot remember what carrier though.

Let's hope they don't push us aside for the upcoming note 4, we get the update till Q4...

Samsung can send all the updates they want I'm never buying a Samsung again after the s3 trouble still not been fixed by samsung

Rich champness, you are holding it the wrong way lol..... Sorry I just had to channel Steve Jobs lol

Gee Rich what trouble has there been. Maybe it's the user. My whole family has S3's. No major problems at all. Maybe you are the exception, rather than the rule

Our whole family, (4 users), on the AT&T S3 variant with 4.3 also having many issues. Just a couple, IMHO, major issues... We all having major battery drain issue. Battery drains in nearly 4 hours with VERY minimal use. Feel free to google S3 4.3 battery issues. Phones locks up if Auto rotate is enabled and turn the phone to landscape. Both are known issues with Samsung.

I will never go to Apple, but this will also likely be my last Samsung device. I should have learned my lesson with the Galaxy S and their "updates". My feeling is...If Apple can send out updates bypassing the carriers, no reason why Android devices can't.

My nexus 7 got its 4.4.3 and root today. Saw it this morning and downloaded and install this afternoon. Have not tried it yet. But loaded fine and did watch a YouTube video to see if it worked.

I'm wondering if this is where S3 LTE users will be abandoned or if we'll get this too, or if we'll be passed over to get the next release. Either way I'm not complaining. Even though the S3 is a POS with its signal issues, Samsung has done a fine job with the updates. But I think 4.4.3 is a vanity update for Samsung. It adds a new dialer to AOSP, but Samsung has its own dialer. It has camera fixes for the Nexus devices, but again, Samsung has its own camera.

"Samsung has its own dialer" best dialer ever, NO :D i'm always impressed by samsung how they still use a dialer inspired by the 2.3 gingerbread dialer :)

If it ain't broke don't fix it I happen to think the dialers fine don't need a new "revolutionary" one

Its a great phone but its run its course to extend the life of it I'd put a custom ROM on it that would extend the life of it tremendously

Lol... This is for the global models. Good luck getting the update from the useless US carriers anytime soon. Anyway whoever buys the ugly branded carrier variants probably won't care what version the crappy phone runs.

But unfortunately some users also prefer optimized LTE on their phones which a carrier locked device only provides. Also, i assure you folks who prefer optimized LTE also care what version of the OS the phone runs on :)

Why can't an unlocked device provide LTE? My Nexus 5 does just fine on LTE!

I never understood that. How come android updates go through carrier? Why can't they be straight from google or oem like apple does? What if I bought an android phone to use like an ipod and never put a sim card in it? Will I receive updates? Like what microsoft did with windows phone, you can register to be developer for free and just download app on your phone from app store. Then it will update you to wp 8.1.

If you want the updates when they come out then that's called a nexus device or a phone that's a GPE. Wait I think Motorola is doing that now too.

Im looking forward to the update. I'm also looking forward to the release of the "galaxy f"...

Until the galaxy f5 comes out a month after and then you want that

No mention of the galaxy note 3 getting 4.4.3 KitKat, oh what a surprise, the note 4 is probably due September so lovely Samsung wont update the note 3 till after the note 4 has been on sale a while, in the hope of boosting sales.

I think it's great that they are updating the S5 so quickly after the Aosp devices. It was my biggest worry about moving from a nexus to a galaxy

Posted via Android Central App

Any word yet on what 4.4.3 actually does? All I heard is the camera fix, which doesn't apply to all devices (I think)
Not sure if this is a huge must have update.

Posted via Android Central App

I hope the update (whenever it arrives) makes the camera app a little faster

Posted from my Nexus 7 2013 or Samsung galaxy S5

I see improvement in the camera . . . it focuses quicker and is generally improved. The dialer is a big improvement.

Posted via Android Central App

Possibly, but I wonder if it'll happen more quickly due to Knox. Now that Knox 2.0 is out, Samsung needs to put an update out to get it on devices and I can see Verizon being on board with that. I actually don't mind Knox though, so it won't bother me.

We will see what happens from here. I upgraded from my S4 to my S5, and the boyfriend is still waiting on Kitkat for his S4 Active...thats AT&T for you...anyways since I have 3 phones waiting on an update, I wouldn't be surprised if none of them came out this month.

At&t released kitkat for the S4A a week ago... but samsung still uses touchwiz, their own dialer, camera and calendar, so most of the updates are hidden. So check for ooa updates if you want. ...

What about the Note 3? And give us the new Touchwiz UI from the SGS5!
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on T-Mobile via Android Central App

I am satisfied with mine, but I feel everyone should get the newest touchwiz ui and Samsung apps (messaging, WatchOn, etc.) Whichever Samsung devices are on the same version of android, should also have the same version of apps running

That actually depends on your carrier to be able to use data while on the phone when not connected to WiFi.
Been on T-Mobile 7 years and it has never failed me whatever phone I use, shoot I have made 5-way phones calls (I think I could have called more people) and still was able to use my data.

If 4.4.3 is as exciting as 4.4.2 who give a rats arse?

For that matter the entire kitkat release has been who cares event for me.

Kitkat 4.4.3 for Galaxy S4 + (i9506) has not come to Sweden yet??
Will it release or is it just empty talk ????

This is the time for Android Lollipop 5.0 I guess. Samsung is planning to launch Galaxy S6 in 2015. Recently I was reading a news on that the S6 will be released on MWC 2015. i'm actually too much excited for it..What about you guys ??
