Write an awesome Firefox mobile add-on, win a trip to Barcelona

This one's for you coders out there: Mozilla's looking for some good add-ons to be built or ported to the mobile version of Firefox (aka Fennec). There are six categories (Sports/games, commerce/shopping, geolocation, productivity, sharing/social, novelty/innovation), and prizes will be awarded in each category. The winners will get $1,000 cash, an Android (or Maemo) phone, a spot on the Firefox for Mobile Start Page, be listed as a featured add-on, and a blog post about your add-on.

And one grand-prize winner will get a free trip to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress in February and a full pass to the event. (And if you're really, really lucky, you'll run into us there.)

So get to coding folks! Full info at the source link. [Mozilla (opens in new tab)]

  • I think we need a decent browser out of them before people start making addons. Don't get me wrong, love firefox on the PC, and the mobile beta browser was a good step up from the alpha, but it has a ways to go.
  • Time does amazing things. The current Firefox on tablets is awesome. It is definitely ready for add-ons.
  • Totally agree. It was unusable on my Vibrant. Had to remove.
