Update July 23: HTC says it's a watch, but not a product that's ever going to be released.
Say it isn't so! HTC may have leaked its smartwatch as early as July 9th as part of a design video highlighting how HTC makes great phones. The unannounced watch, which is shown in the company's official YouTube video, appears at around the 35-second mark and shows off a square watch face more akin to the competing LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live rather than than the radial face of Motorola's Moto 360.
In the video, the watch is shown sitting on a stand. Whether that's for ornamental purposes or if the stand serves a second purpose like the speculated wireless charging feature of the Moto 360 is anyone's guess at this point.
The watch in the video, at least from what we can see of it, looks similar to recent leaks we've seen floating around the Internet, and according to early speculations the HTC-designed timepiece is also expected to run on Google's Android Wear platform.
What do you think of HTC quietly leaking its smartwatch? Are you a fan of the the design, at least from what you can see of it?
