Sony Xperia Z1 f announced, coming to Docomo in Japan

Alongside the Samsug Galaxy J, Japan's NTT Docomo also took the wraps off a rather interesting new Sony smartphone, the Xperia Z1 f. The Z1 f is essentially a downscaled version of the Xperia Z1, Sony's current international flagship device — but the big news here is that Sony hasn't downgraded the Z1's top-level specs. The phone uses the same Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU as the full-sized Z1, along with 2GB of RAM and the same 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera. It's even rated IP58 for water and dust resistance, just like its big brother.
Indeed, the only hardware component of note that seems to have been trimmed down is the display, which goes from a 5-inch 1080p panel to 720p over 4.3 inches — and that should make the Z1 f considerably more hand and pocket-friendly than the larger version.
The Sony Xperia Z1 f will come in black, white, pink and lime color optios and launch this December on Docomo's network. It's unclear whether we'll ever see this portable powerhouse outside of Japan, but we'll have our fingers crossed for an eventual international announcement.

Another top-of-the-line powerhouse in a smaller form factor? When will Sony and Samsung realize buyers outside of Japan want these as well? /smh

Hopefully, soon. 2nd main reason why I'll upgrade to the moto x is its size. Slightly smaller than my rezound and thinner. Posted via Android Central App

C'mon Sony. We like your phones in Britain, help us out a little bit with this one. This is the phone I want.

Hopefully they bring this phone out internationally Posted via Android Central App

Ridiculous. Want to be #3 and you can't even get your phones to anyone but Japan. Posted via Android Central App

At least the Xperia Z is on T-Mobile. Posted from my pure Google Nexus 4 using the AC app.

Come on, Sony! We want these phones in the us Posted via Android Central App

God dammit, I'll curse Sony to 3rd hell if they don't release this internationally... And then probably find some way to order it from Japan for freakishly high price (in-case I find it somewhere unlocked)

people want a small but powerful smartphone can now look beyond iPhones. Posted via Android Central App

Common Sony, at 127 x 65, the bezels are too big for it to be a mini phone. Should have made it more compact to hug that little 4.3' screen like the Moto X does its 4.7' screen at 129.4 x 65.3. Still smaller than the going 5' screens at least... If this came out before Moto X existed on Rogers, I would have got it.

Think rationaly please!!!
Z1f is waterproof phone (IP58) with powerful chipset (S800), big camera sensor (Z1f 1.2/3” vs Moto X 1.3”) and Big battery in relatively slim body (Z1f 9.4mm and 2300 mAh vs Moto X 10.4mm and 2200 mAh).
And until this day there is no other OEMs can make bezelless waterproof just look at S4 Active or Optimus GJ bezels. -
Looks pretty ugly with it's 1km bezels
-
Lol there is nothing wrong with that useful bezels, let me ask you something can you show me any phones with the same “SPECS” like Z1f but with smaller bezels? because from what i know even LG and Samsung can’t make bezelless waterproof phones.
-
yeah compare the xperia z (waterproof) vs xperia zl (not waterproof) they need the extra bezel for the waterproof/water resistance it would seem.
-
Yeah even Samsung S4 Active is taller, wider and thicker than Xperia Z.
