Sony confirms Lollipop rollout for the Z Ultra Google Play edition

Sony has today announced on the company blog that Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially rolling out to the Z Ultra Google Play edition. It was only yesterday that we covered reports stating how users on our forums were receiving notifications that the update was indeed available.

As noted yesterday, the OTA update should clock in at 397 MB, requiring over 500 MB of free internal storage to install. While official word from Sony is that the update should hit devices from this week, regions will vary in the phased roll-out. We'd recommend you keep checking the device every now and then.

Let us know if you've received Lollipop on your Z Ultra GPe in the comments.

  • Sony Z Ultra GPE gives me 'No Command' when trying to install Lollipop. Phone is rooted, but no custom ROM - rooted so I could write to SD card. Is that what is causing this? If so, is there a way to unroot? Thanks.
  • It's not having root that causes the OTA to fail, it's the changes you made to the system. My Z Ultra was rooted with Towel Root, and everything went awesome.
  • I also used Towel Root. :-/
  • Did they take away Lollipop for the Xperia Z Ultra GPe? My notification disappeared. Was holding out from installing, now notification disappeared. Anyone else noticing this? Posted via the Android Central App on my Xperia Z Ultra GPe
