Despite cause for concerns that production of the PlayStation 5 would be affected by COVID-19, Sony appears to be going full steam ahead on its holiday 2020 launch. In a deep dive with the specs, Mark Cerny said that the console expects to be out by year's end.
Unfortunately, we still don't know what it will cost. Without knowing the cost of the Xbox Series X either, it's hard to say if Sony is at an advantage or disadvantage in this area. This is purely speculation on my part, but I'd be expecting at least $500. Remember, the PlayStation 3 released at a whopping $600 back in 2006.
Pre-orders for Sony's next-gen machine are currently unavailable. But you can check out its specs to get you prepared.
Though Microsoft has revealed a lot about its Xbox Series X the past few months, we still don't have a firm release date. For now, all we know is that Microsoft plans to release it holiday 2020 around the same time as the PlayStation 5. Whether or not eventual delays or shortages occur because of COVID-19 is unknown, thought analysts speculate that the possibility is certainly there.
