Another month, another security patch. On July 2, Google officially started pushing out the July 2018 Android security patch for its Pixel and Nexus devices.

Both the factory images and OTA files are live right now, meaning you can already flash the patch to your phone if you don't feel like waiting for the over-the-air update to hit your phone.

This patch level officially comes in as the July 5, 2018, one, and looking specifically at the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, Google notes that there's "improved consistency of Wi-Fi connections with certain routers."

Along with the new security patch for folks running Oreo, those that decided to jump the gun to the Android P beta also got an update to Beta 3 / Developer Preview 4 today.

  • Essential has rolled it out as well. In an non related item, the Android Central App is no longer available in the Google Play store. What's up with that?
  • The app's currently undergoing construction. In the meantime, the mobile site is looking better than ever 👌
  • Will the app icon finally be updated to an adaptive one?
  • OK, thanks for the information, realized that I didn't have it on my phone and it was not showing up on my list of apps. Ended up using the mobile version and you are correct, it looks good! 👍
  • I'll get the July security update in over a week's time for my Pixel 2 XL.
  • My essential phone got it literally no more than a few hours ago
  • I'll get it for my Nokia 8 later in the month. Well done Nokia ! , puts some of the established names to shame.
  • Rocking July security update on my essential. Some are reporting it showed up on their essential prior to their Pixels on Reddit. Idk but hard to stay mad at this phone.
  • Good to hear
  • Same here. My Essential phone just keeps impressing me. Glad I finally made the move away from the masses.
  • Hmmm. Looks good overall but the update to Android P seems to have broken Google Pay on my Pixel 2XL, which now says it won't work with devices that are "rooted or altered in some other way". A reset hasn't work. The perils of beta programs!
  • It's working on mine
  • This is why I stay away from beta software.
  • I was installing the update on my Pixel XL and got an error (update couldn't be installed) twice. Restarted my phone and the update has disappeared (may have been pulled)
  • And Huawei P10. They are extremely good at updating it in Europe
  • Got it about an hour ago via manual check for update. OG Pixel XL.
  • Last update got rid of the seconds on the clock in the top left (the clock in the notification pull down). Is option gone or am I not looking on the right place. UI tuner is gone right? Please help!
  • I have a pixel 2XL and I haven't received the update yet?
  • Me too ... Still no update...
  • I wonder when it actually will drop
