HTC Eye Experience, VoLTE coming to AT&T One M8 early next week

While AT&T may have jumped the gun on posting the changelog earlier this week, it looks like the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update containing VoLTE and the Eye software experience for its HTC One M8 will be rolling out sometime early next week.

The news comes from HTC's Mo Versi on Twitter:

As Versi notes, the update will include VoLTE and the HTC Eye experience. However, if the changelog posted earlier this week is any indication, M8 users on AT&T could also expect some updates to AT&T-branded apps, along with the addition of a copy and paste camera feature.

Thanks to Jonathan M. for sending this one in!

  • Converted my att M8 to a Dev Edition! I was tired of waiting on carrier rollouts! Enjoying lollipop now. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Do you get ATT's VoLTE and HTC's Eye Experience after converting your ATT HTC M8 to Developer Edition and updating to Lollipop?
  • Probably not. But then again he probably doesn't have any AT&T bloat either.... :) Rooted LG G2.
Rooted GS3, Stock Galaxy Note 4
If it ain't Tech, it ain't Right!
  • I'd say it's a fair trade off for getting a timely update... Posted from the Nexus 5 or Xperia Z3
  • I'd rather have ATT's VoLTE and HTC's Eye experience. Moreover, TechnoBuffalo was able to verify with AT&T that the apps can be removed by the end user on the Nexus 6. Perhaps the same would be true with this Developer Edition. An actual user should verify. Early Lollipop updates have been problematic. Hildenbrand said the same regarding early Kitkat releases.
  • If you're on AT&T's software, you can't remove the bloat. The Nexus 6 is the only one. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I have an At&t M8.. Rooted it the first day I got it and don't have one thing on my phone that says At&t. I even ran the latest Lollipop 5.0.1 Google Edition software since before Thanksgiving (the one that Nexus phones run) until last week when when the HTC Sense version came out. Currently on Lollipop 5.0.1 w/Sense 6.0 (still no At&t stuff on my phone). The camera has the EYE experience (since that's HTC).

  • You definitely get the eye experience, not that it means much in reality Posted via the Android Central App
  • I was hoping they would skip 4.4.4 and go right to 5.0 that HTC said would be ready this month or early in Feb. But of course AT&T will delay it.
  • There's still a week left! Hopefully the S5 will get lollipop by the end of the month. Posted on my Galaxy S5
  • 5.0 is already out My M8 posted this
  • AT&T sucks Posted via the Android Central App
  • I would rather have a nonproblematic 4.4.4 kitkat to a buggy lollipop anyday. Waiting a little while longer isn't a big deal for me. It does irk me that att drags it's heels to add in more bloat but at least the radios are better Posted via Android Central App on my HTC M8
  • Lollipop is not buggy at all. I have both a Moto X 2014 and a HTC M8. I love Lollipop on my X. A lot smoother that Sense on my M8. I do that know why people keep saying Lollipop is buggy. They do not know what they are missing. I could not go back to Kit Kat after using Lollipop for so long. Although it would be nice to have VoLTE Posted via the Android Central App
  • I would like to try the htc camera app but other than that I like my GPE Posted via the Android Central App
  • You can, if you flash a custom GPe ROM that has the sense camera built in. Specifically the SkyDragon ROM. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Do GPE M8's have VOLTE?
  • I dont believe so. I am using a real GPE M8 (Not Converted) and dont seem to have it. I am on the latest release of lollipop as well.
  • Downloading the new software from ATT right now. Will report back as soon as it's done. It's 864.0 MB Posted via the Android Central App
  • 840? The one I'm downloading is only 452. Hmm... Posted via the Android Central App
  • 452 MB verified here as well.
  • Version 4.4.4. Software number 3.42.502.1.
  • Mine was 864mb. Same version as yours. Posted via Android Central App on my HTC M8
  • Updating from an older version, maybe?
  • 4.2.2 stock AT&T was what I was running Posted via Android Central App on my HTC M8
  • I just got my 4.4.4 update today in case anyone was wondering if they were pushing out the update yet.
