Confirming earlier leaks, Sony has today unveiled the Xperia A2 for NTT Docomo in Japan, joining Sony's current flagship, the Xperia Z2 on the Japanese network. As rumored, the Xperia A2 is almost identical to the Xperia Z1 Compact, a phone which arrived in Japan last year as the Xperia Z1 f.

The Xperia A2 offers the same specs as the earlier version — 4.3-inch 720p panel, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 20.7-megapixel Sony Exmor RS camera. The only real differences between the A2 and Z1 Compact are external — the former comes in orange and lavender, as well as white and dark grey, and the phone's back panel is now matte plastic. So this isn't exactly the Xperia Z2 Compact some were hoping for, more a Z1 Compact in an updated chassis.

The Xperia A2 will go on sale in Japan in mid-June. Docomo's Xperia Z2, also announced today, lands May 21.

Basically the A2 is the European Z1Compact as the Japanese version had a glass back unlike the European counterpart. That said what I would like to know is if the A2 already comes without the plastic sheets like the Z2 or not. Because honestly, that's the biggest improvement between the Z1C and the Z2.

So basicly A2 is current Z1 Compact... Where lot of ppl have changed to glass back, since plastic back causes flash bleed... Ah well, now japanese get to enjoy same flash bleed.
