Phil Nickinson Smartphones, Featured Saturday, 13 February 2010

New version of the myTouch 3G now listed on T-Mobile's Web site

Erica Marchand News Thursday, 11 February 2010

The latest version of the myTouch 3G is now on T-Mobile's Web site, though it's listed as "coming soon" and isn't actually available yet. The big difference is the addition of a 3.5mm audio jack. To some this may mean nothing, but for those that know about the 2.5mm audio jack this means you can use pretty much any headphones to listen to as much music as the battery can handle.

myTouch 3G Fender Edition Sold Out

Casey Chan News Thursday, 11 February 2010

Most collaborations and special edition devices come off as contrived ideas that aren't much different from the original device. The myTouch 3G was not your typical special edition device. The design was stellar, the execution was awesome, and judging from its sales, it was wildly successful. We noticed that the myTouch 3G Fender wasn't available for upgrade users a week...

myTouch 3G 1.2 looks strangely familiar

Phil Nickinson News Tuesday, 09 February 2010

Now that the myTouch 3G 1.2 has been manhandled, really the only thing left to do is for T-Mobile to release the darn thing. And judging by the pictorial, the only real difference we're going to be seeing will be under the hood -- there's now 256MB of RAM -- and the addition of the 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes with an 8GB microSD card.

T-Mobile Drops Price of myTouch 3G to $99.99, Better Off Waiting For myTouch 1.2

Casey Chan News Tuesday, 09 February 2010

If you're in the market for a myTouch 3G, our advice would be to wait until the myTouch 3G 1.2 becomes official and then decide which one to buy. Even though T-Mobile is going to drop the price of the original myTouch 3G to $99.99 on February 10th, the myTouch 3G 1.2 might be a better option in the long run.

Hands-on with the myTouch 3G Fender

Phil Nickinson News, Featured Saturday, 30 January 2010

If Jimi Hendrix were alive today, this would be the phone he'd be carrying. The myTouch 3G commercials just keep on coming. We've put the sharply beautiful Motorola DROID next to the Android phones you know and love: the T-Mobile G1, the HTC Magic (myTouch 3G), and the Sprint HTC Hero. Once upon a time those phones were heralded as the best Android phone available but each will have to bow out for the DROID.

Casey Chan News Monday, 12 October 2009

Likely in response to the launch of the HTC Hero on Sprint, Walmart has just dropped the price of the original Android phones. Both the T-Mobile G1 and the myTouch 3G received price drops and if you're a current T-Mobile customer wanting to get a taste of Android, it's as good a deal as you're going to find. The T-Mobile G1 is now $48.88 and the myTouch 3G is $98.88 (with new 2-year contract). It's a really great deal considering how many 'dumbphones' are offered for the same price.

Now this is more like it. With the onset of the Motorola CLIQ and the G1's own price drop, T-Mobile has just dropped the price of the myTouch 3G to a pretty competitive $149.99. We strongly believe that the $149.99 price point should have been the launch price of the myTouch 3G but that's all water under the bridge now.

This shouldn't come as a surprise for anyone but T-Mobile expects the myTouch 3G to outsell the T-Mobile G1. Talk about going on a limb *sarcasm*. T-Mobile is really pushing the customizable nature of the myTouch 3G--custom gel skins, custom cases, custom straps, custom holsters, battery extenders, and docking ports. It really seems that the myTouch 3G's biggest feature is that customizability and it'll be very interesting to see how consumers react to it.

Is this type of customization something consumers are interested in? The iPhone is wildly popular but there is zero...
