ROMTools

Man, I love these little Optimus One phones.  When you put Android on great entry-level hardware and price it accordingly, a couple things happen.  They get pretty damn popular, and developers start to take notice.  Both are very good things.  Optimus developer mmmark111 brings us new goodies -- ROMTools.  ROMTools is a program you run from your computer and it handles a whole slew of hacking needs for your Optimus One phone.  Have a look:

  • Flash ROM
  • Flash Recovery
  • Wipe dalvik-cache
  • Mount /system r/w
  • Push ROM to SD card
  • Push framework-res.apk
  • Push bootanimation.zip
  • Reboot
  • Reboot into Recovery

If you hate trying to remember commands and file locations, you'll love it.  It's really easy to use -- I've even got my wife flashing her own boot animations.  I'll make a hacker out of her yet, especially with tools like this one.  Thanks a lot, mmmark111, for making and sharing it! Will a rooted LG Optimus V allow tethering?

brainwash says:

You can tether without rooting. Use Quick Settings to enable Wifi hotspot: http://www.appbrain.com/app/quick-settings/com.bwx.bequick

New update to LG Optimus S LS670ZVD not allowing me to tether w/ Quick Settings or Hotspot Widget. Not Good. Any solutions?

brainwash says:

This should work, but you need root access: https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether&feature=search_result
I upgraded to this ROM, and the built-in tethering works great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962862

Help Please! I don't know what I did but my LG Optimus V through Virgin is missing all the data from most of its core system applications. I am very familiar with downloading apps from the Market place and I know how to move apps from phone to the SD card. So I can say with some certainty, I did not accidently delete the data from these core applications. The phone still works but I am starting to experience various problems. Can anyone tell me what happened and what I might do to salvage my phone?

Thank You,
Respectfully,
