Noo-gut. Nugg-et. Noo-gat. ... We'll figure out how we want to pronounce it eventually.

There's no such thing as a slow week in the Android world. And in the span of a single morning we've gotten both the nickname for Android N — Nougat — and a long-overdue unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the United States.

Plus we weigh in on some recent stories that probably have been blown way out of proportion, and we answer some excellent questions via email.

    Android Central 295: Nougat Unlocked

Yep I get that it is just that maybe Googles fun has gone to far now. It's a ***** to say for me lol

Lol yeah the name is absolutely trash as well as the statue, I'm just interested in the features.

UPDATE: Phil said im wrong to complain about the statue so I sincerely apologize.

Then pronounce it how you want depending on where you are. I will saw "New-get". I like the name there are a couple that might be better but its far better than Nutella or something stupid. Plus Newget is delicious.

Just to clarify my comment from last week concerning Android apps on Chrome OS. I switched to Dev Channel and updated the first night the Play Store became available. I was also in Dev Mode at that time, then switched out of it. So my process involved at least two reboots.

At that time, while the Play Store was fully operational, there was no way to tell the difference between Chrome apps and Android apps. The icons were identical.

Two days later I saw the update available indicator in my Asus Chromebook Flip, so I ran the update. There was a message associated with the update stating something like the initial Dev Channel update did not function properly for certain users, so they were re-issuing a revised update.

Once I ran that update, the grayscale Chrome logo appeared on all of the Chrome apps, but not on the Android apps. That is what prompted me to write you last week in response to Phil's comment that he could not distinguish between the Chrome and Android app icons.

My conclusion is that whomever Jerry spoke with at Google either wasn't giving him the whole story or was unaware of the revised update that was sent out a couple of days after the initial update that enabled the Play Store.

I'm going to avoid listening to Americans talking about Android Nutella's second class alternative name. It already gets on my nerves you can't pronounce "mobile" properly, I don't want to be put through the butchering of "Nougat" too. ;P

I didn't run out and buy a Flip when Android apps were announced I had purchased one well before then because my Acer C720p spontaneously decided to cease functioning. I did my research came to the conclusion that the Flip was my best bet for a decent long term Chromebook and now, Jerry, you are trying to curse me. I am using dev because my Nexus 6 is trying to die a rapid death as well so I can at least hope to hold out until the Nexus announcements. My apologies that my "backup" machine is a 2010 Dell Mini 10 netbook and is my only other semi functional laptop. I am sad that you think it is cute that some of us are just trying to make things work and while I don't mind tinkering I don't want to pull out my CR48 with a wore out hinge to try to download a fix.

    N33k5, that angry zombie dog.

Here's my thing, they totally blew a great marketing campaign; Remember the "Be together not the same" ads that sorta flew over some iSheep heads, the video of the different animals all playing together called Friends Furever?
Neapolitan ice cream could've built off that about the 'racial harmony' of the Android manufacturing brands. Make iCrap look like the 3rd Reich they are, inferior product with a higher price tag.
The top 3 selling brands could all get their pick of whether their little logo appears on chocolate, vanilla or strawberry parts of the evenly. "Look how far we've come since Ice Cream(sandwich)!"
