Android Central

The latest "must-have" app on the block, is without question OMGPOP's insanely addictive Draw Something. Currently it occupies the top spot in the free, and paid app sections of the Android Market Google Play Store. It's even got the AC staff hooked in -- that's a bonfire I've drawn in case you were wondering. Not resting on their laurels though, the developers have outlined a few pieces that will be arriving soon in a forthcoming update.

An email that landed in our inbox today details what we can expect. First out of the gate is a whole bunch of bug fixes. Seems there are a variety of bugs affecting players, including crashes, problems completing turns and coins, colors and bombs not displaying -- and sometimes you really need one of those bombs. The good news though, these will all be fixed when the update lands.

But what about new features? Well, we're due a few of those as well. On the list are:

  • Sharing drawings on Twitter and Facebook
  • Save drawings to your devices' photo library
  • Notifications for Android devices
  • Increase of the max streak from 99 to 999
  • Pull down to refresh game status
  • Undo button for your last brush stroke
  • Even better performance
  • More Words
  • A slew of other fixes and tweaks

The extra dose of social integration definitely shouldn't come as a surprise. Certainly looks like we're about to see a whole lot of 'masterpieces' up and down our timelines. Notifications should be pretty good though. One can only assume that we'll get a handy little notification that our opposing players have sent us something to guess at.

If you haven't yet succombed to the world of Draw Something, we've a handy download link to the free version after the break. Don't forget to check out our review of it as well, just in case you're still not convinced. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to try and draw the Amazon.

OMGPOP detail forthcoming update to Draw Something

Can we just adopt the Google Play moniker already? It's not going away so just embrace it - pointing it out constantly in virtually every post isn't helping the transition.

I know this probably seems "snarky", but I'm just being frank. I think it would benefit the Android community overall seeing as how this is one of the largest Android blogs on the net.

I wholeheartedly agree. They try to play it off as funny but seriously... it's been like two weeks. The joke is old; let's move on.

Not everyone reads Android blogs every day like you do. There are plenty of casual users who likely have not adjusted yet to the change, and the way the AC writers are presenting it in the articles here will immediately inform someone what "Google Play" is.

It's been almost 3 weeks since the change happened. I'm pretty sure everyone's figured out by now what the Play Store is when they look at their phone and see there's a new app where the Market used to be. If they haven't, I doubt they're reading a blog like this anyway.

Yes, I agree. No more strike through's. Just a simple Android Market will do please. How can this ever be mistaken? (as he grumbles under his breath, play store my *&%$#^s)

Don't be a dick, I know it's tough for you ill mannered commenters, but try. It'll make your Mom proud, unless she's a bitch as well.

Why is every author OBSESSED with crossing out market and putting Google Play? It really isn't funny. Just call it what it is. :\

Love this game! However, every once in awhile I get a strange bug that swaps games with other opponents. Say I drew a car for John and a dog for Bill, the dog picture pops up for player John while the word is still car..
Makes it near impossible to guess the word when the picture is something totally different...not to mention it makes me look like a crazy person.

I do love this game, but it is missing some things. But it looks like they will be adding everything it needs. Notifications is obvious. And, I am a terrible drawer but there has been 1 or 2 that I would have loved to share on Facebook.

is it me or does this app crash RELIGIOUSLY??? I wanna play on my Acer tablet but it crashes after only one round of play. Quite annoying. Any suggestions?
