Tegra Note 7

Both Tegra Note 7 models updated to Android 4.4 with Gamepad Mapper functionality

Those looking for a portable 7-inch tablet with mobile data access now have another option — the Tegra Note 7 LTE. While it may not be the hottest-selling tablet out there, the Tegra Note 7 offers a pretty solid set of specs — Tegra 4 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a quality stylus setup all for $199. This new version with HSPA+ and LTE capabilities will set you back just $299, and as an added bonus it's shipping with Android 4.4.2 — which brings new Gamepad Mapper functionality — as well.

Providing the connectivity is a new NVIDIA i500 LTE modem, which is just 40 percent the size of the average modem but is four times as powerful as its predecessor. That pairs up with the Tegra 4 perfectly, of course, to provide speed and efficiency when connecting to mobile networks.

The Tegra Note 7 LTE will be available in a variety of regions in the second quarter of 2014: North America, U.K., Western Europe, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, India, Brazil and China. The original Wifi-only Tegra Note 7 is also expanding to Western Europe, Brazil and Ukraine to match the new model's availability.

There will be three different models, depending on where you purchase the Tegra Note 7 LTE, with the following radio bands:

  • LTE-US: LTE: 700/850/1700/1900/2600 (Bands 2,4,5,17,7); HSPA+: 850/1900/2100 (Bands 1,2,5); EDGE
  • LTE-EU: LTE: 800/1800/2600 (Bands 3,7,20); HSPA+: 850/900/1900/2100 (Bands 1,2,5,8); EDGE
  • 3G (non-LTE markets): HSPA+: 850, 900, 1900, 2100 (Bands 1,2,5,8); EDGE+Voice

NVIDIA announces Tegra Note 7 with LTE connectivity

1 GB RAM = Fail. 7" = Semi-Fail. 8" is the sweet spot for me. Nice try, Nvidia. Come back with more RAM.

It's running 4.4.2 our of the box. All it needs is 1Gb of RAM.

Don't be so stupid this is hands down the most under dated android device on the market.

How the hell do you expect them to keep the costs down? They already have killer battery life, the latest OS, and a waccom stylus on this thing.

Its not a Wacom stylus, it's got a really thin rubber nib on the end and it slides into the tablet. Its not particularly that accurate.

I find the Direct Stylus on my Tegra note 7 to be quite accurate. More than enough to take notes in class, paint, Doodle etc.

I wonder if people would buy a phone if Nvidia made it? I would definitely would be open to it. The products that they put out always catch my eye. I'm curious to see what other people think.

"How'd you get the beans above the frank?"

I think the one you see in all the press reviews is an earlier version. The one I purchased from newegg doesn't have that super bright white text all over the back. It's more a mid gray and a lot more subdued.

$100 just for an added LTE chip? I'd love to know the actual mark-up the LTE version has over the WIFI-only version.

Gimme 2gb of ram for a 2014 tablet and it has to be 1080p. Nexus 5 ruined 720p for me.

This is the most underrated tablet there is....guys 1GB on this tablet is like having 2GB.... the display? Looks the same like the nexus 7.... I have this one and I had the nexus 7 side by side to compare....not enough detail to notice the difference...Why pay more? Sure, be my guest but this one can do everything the nexus 7 can and more.

The Tegra Note is an excellent tablet for sure. I wouldn't mind paying $100 more for a higher spec version. But so far the first model has never underperformed in any game I throw at it.
