LG G Flex

Owners of the LG G Flex on AT&T might find themselves checking their phones for a pending software update tomorrow, as a new support doc from AT&T indicates that an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat should be rolling out starting on April 17th. The AT&T G Flex last saw an update back in February, but it was a small bug fix release for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. This update will be chock full of KitKat goodness.

And it very well ought be full of goodness, considering the 686MB download size that will be required. In addition to all of the improvements that are part of KitKat, the Android 4.4.2 update for the AT&T G Flex will also bring restyled status and navigation bars, battery life improvements, and "enhanced processing speed".

Those with LG G Flex phones on AT&T can find the update screen by firing up the Settings app, tapping on the General tab, selecting "About phone", and then tapping on Software Update. As the update weighs in at two-thirds of a gigabyte you'll need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to download it.

I never thought the G Flex of all phones would get KitKat. It seems more of a minor side experiment than a major phone from LG.

What you mean to say is "it's a big G2 with a lower resolution screen.

It holds a respectable place in my heart.

Yeah I agree it is an experimental phone, but in no way stops at that, it is an amazing phone, I didn't even notice or were bugged that it has a lower ppi, actually it helps keep my phone running for so long on 4G, and the curvature of the screen is immersive. I'm waiting desperately for the kitkat here in the UAE

Two more Carrier updates to go. Sorry Verizon, you won't be last this time. You're not even in this game.

I wonder how many of those they actually sold. My local tmob store hasn't sold a single one, but ran out of n5's, s5's and m8's....

Well yeah.. I don't think it is doing well in sales. Nonetheless it's a cool ass phone.

Yeah, I'm sure LG didn't expect to sell a ton of them. It seems like it's half gimmick and half new tech showcase. Either way, it's a neat device and it's encouraging to see it supported. I honestly didn't think it'd see a major update.
