It looks like the official boot animation for the R2-D2 Droid 2 has hit the web. We broke the news a few weeks about the phone's Sept. 30 release date. As we move closer to the launch date, we're pretty sure more and more little surprises should start showing up. If you really want the little walking trash can on your phone right now, Droid Life has also uploaded the boot animation zip file here

Full video after the break to get those midichlorians pumping in your veins. Oh, and may the force be with you. [Droid Life]

R2-D2 looks to be freaking out on the boot up. Poor little guy must be wondering why Lucas keeps torturing him like this.

Translated from the original binary:

"Oh dear, sweet Maker! I'm trapped in a Motorola? Ahh, balls."

that's pretty funny. I like my CM6 boot screen though :)

Its awesome. I wish there was sound.

Kinda lengthly... But it's something different! I want a custom boot animation but don't know which one to choose...

icebike says:

Seriously? Custom boot animations do it for you?

I want a boot animation I only see as rarely as possible. Like once a calendar quarter would be fine. Who turns off phones anymore anyway?

Even frequent flyers just use airplane mode.

The level of self-congratulation in these rumor stories is starting to wear a bit thin. If you're consistently reporting early and accurate info, the readers will figure it out and keep coming back. When you keep beating us over the head with it every time you get something right, it sounds desperate.

icebike says:

That fact that its a NOTHING issue didn't help either.

Who gives a rip about a boot animation?

Stormhead77 says:

Tried to grab the download and the site says it is temporarily unavailable. Booo.

Noob question, do you have to be rooted to load that boot animation on your device?

When do we get the wallpapers and live wallpapers and what about ring tones and notifications?

meccariello says:

It needs the star wars opening music. Otherwise .. Epic fail

Has anyone else had issues with the download? I get a message stating the file is no longer available.
