Last month we ran a story about the front-QWERTY keyboard Galaxy Q phone that Samsung reportedly plans to add to their Galaxy line. More specs have now leaked out about the likely BlackBerry competitor.
The Samsung Galaxy Q will have:
- 3-inch Super AMOLED screen (720x480)
- 1 GHz Hummingbird processor
- 8MP camera with LED flash
- 1.3 mp front-facing camera
- QWERTY keyboard
- Android 2.2
- 16GB internal memory (Micro SD expandable to 32GB)
Since it is being touted as a BlackBerry competitor, it will most likely have the screen up top with the keyboard directly below. It sounds like a very intriguing phone, and it will be interesting to see how many BlackBerry users may be swayed by the Galaxy Q. [MobileCrunch]

3" screen?
guess they making more screens ,since the downsized the screen size on that one :p lol
Don't buy it... not a 720x480 resolution... It's not a standard Android res and it'll screw up too many apps with stuff being cut off...
Also 3" in a candy bar format with keyboard?? thats gonna be a pretty long phone... If they make it vertical slider, then it could be really special though.
It will more than likely be a landscape screen.

Is Samsung now trying to do what Motorola couldn't? That being releasing a phone with the Q moniker to rival the BlackBerry line?

The Moto Q9h(Global)was a good phone.Too bad Moto never released the Q9 Napoleon.Seems like Samsung has fond memories of it's BlackJack series.Definitely a QWERTY Android market out there which doesn't like the current QWERTY sliders.Hard to argue a BB 9000-sized/styled Android device would be too big after the likes of the EVO and Droid X.
I gotta say, I don't understand this phone either. Why do you want to compete with Blackberry's form factor? It's terrible. There's a reason we're all typing on glass and full-sized keyboards now.
Yea but there's also a reason a LOT of people love the QWERTY kb on their blackberries.
720x480?!? Developers are going to be pissed off, why would Samsung want to add to Android's fragmentation!?

My wife wants this. She likes my Galaxy S (Captivate), but isn't fond of touchscreens and also isn't crazy about any of the current Blackberries to replace her Pearl.
