ROM Manager

ClockworkMod recovery has hit version 6 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and it's available right from ROM Manager for the GSM, Sprint, and Verizon versions. The change log for version 6 reads as follows:

  • New backup format that de-duplicates data between backups.
  • Faster backups.
  • Fixed restores > 2GB.
  • Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)

Interesting set of features. The de-duplication of data will make for smaller and faster backups, which we all can appreciate. If you're rooted and ROM'd on your Galaxy Nexus, you'll surely want to check this out.

Does CWM 6 make the touch enabled recovery default?

EDIT:
Checked clockworkmod site. Touch and standard recovery have the same version listed on the table.

Even though they have the same version number, I think they are different. They are named different and I did a binary compare, which show a bunch of differences. I would say the standard version does not include Touch.

@Jerry Interested in your personal opinion... how do you see this Recovery compared to TWRP's touch version? I'm on the fence...totally lost on who to go with. I used to use Amon_RA back in the G1/N1 days, then transitioned to CWM from the N1 to the NS and now the GNex. Trying TWRP at the moment and feel like I need to spend more time to get used to it, but you're the professional. ;)

I'm in the same boat as you.

I've been using TWRP for a little while now and really like it so far. It's easy to use and it's pretty fast. I did notice though that some mods for the GNex won't flash using TWPR but hopefully that changes. I know TWPR is the "new guy" in the recovery game but way back in the day CWM was in the same spot and now look at it.

So is this the same as CWM Touch or no? I currently have touch and it is amazing. Idk if I should update to this.
