Xiaomi all set to unveil MIUI 7 on August 13

With MIUI 6 nearing a year since its launch, Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil its upcoming OS, MIUI 7, later this month. The Chinese manufacturer teased the reveal date on Weibo, with a launch event scheduled in Beijing on August 13.

With Xiaomi announcing an iteration of MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0, it is possible MIUI 7 will be built atop Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Not much else is known about the upcoming launch, with the latest rumors suggesting that the Mi 5 will be the first device to offer MIUI 7 out of the box. Given that the Mi 5 is expected to feature Snapdragon 820, it may be a while before we see the phone hitting retail availability.

We'll have all the details from Xiaomi's launch event next week.
