LG announces Optimus 4X HD European launch

LG has announced that it's in the process of launching its new international flagship, the Optimus 4X HD, in major European countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and Italy. A quad-core, Tegra 3-powered handset with a 720p IPS display, the 4X HD is the first European handset to debut LG's new Optimus UI 3.0, which runs on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

LG's also highlighting its "Quick notes" functionality, which lets users draw on the screen using their fingers, or a capacitive stylus, as well as Media Flex, which allows a range of real-time multimedia effects during video playback.

No exact release date has been revealed, so we're expecting things to vary country-by-country. If you want to see what LG's bringing to the table in 2012, be sure to check out our hands-on previews from Mobile World Congress and CTIA.

  • so..ugly lol..
  • You for real? This is one of the best looking phones I have ever seen! Now an ugly phone is the Galaxy S3. But i guess its on preference. I prefer Rectangles compared for curved phones.
  • To each his own.
  • LG, LMFAOOO.
  • I like the "Quick notes" that they described.
  • Specs wise this is not a bad device. But, the timing of the release of this device, is probably wrong. This should have been released months ago to fully compete with the One X and more importantly the SIII. The device does not have a stand out feature, unlike the 2 other Quad core devices.
  • I know the international version of the GS3 is gonna have a way more powerful chip, but what advantage if any does the OneX have on this hardware wise?
  • Not really about hardware... Just Branding only... no US carrier is rusing to put LG as a leading device... they don't stand out at all.... Just a "me too" touchwiz and "me too" hardware.
  • Sounds like it's about hardware to me, at least when you talk about standout features, and especially on android. And I disagree on that stance in general. If it's really all about brand and not hardware, then how on earth could Samsung have sold so many devices in the US, after the crap they pulled with the Galaxy S1 and it's lack of updates?
  • The HD IPS screen blows away the Samdung and the HTC screens. And if this phone is true to other LG phones, its radio will be better than the HTC (I won't even mention Samdung since their radios are terrible in fringe areas...at least for their past phones...can't say for sure about the new one, but I won't try them again).
  • Who in his/her right mind would buy the piece of shit phones made by LG. I mean, look at that ugly LG logo lol it's like a sign that says "keep your money away"
  • AH Finally.....
  • Looks pretty outdated. Not the most attractive phone ever.
