Droid Eris gets a little bit of Gingerbread ROM loving

If you have held on strong to your HTC Droid Eris, and not lost hope even with the lack of official updates you will rejoice to know that custom ROM developer punk.kaos has brought a sweet taste of Gingerbread to your device. KaosGingerbread, a Android 2.3 AOSP based ROM has undergone quite a few different versions, and many improvements have been made along the way, each one just continuing to get better and better. While the ROM is still not perfect, anyone who has wanted a taste of Gingerbread on their device, this is a great option for you, and remember as always, flash at your own risk. For more information, and download links be sure to check out this thread on XDA. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

  • With each passing day (and udate) Im beginning to dislike my Fascinate and Samsung Mobile even more. Before someone blabs on about technical constraints causing a lack of these awesome updates for the Fascinate... I know... That's why I don't like it.. :(
  • That's what you get when you buy from samsung. Just look at their track record they are awful with updates which is why i ditched my fascinate and will never buy another samsung phone unless its a nexus so the updates come right from google
  • The eris does seem to get alot of developmental love. Its great. I've got got the look of gingerbread on my G2. Cyanogen mod 6.1.1 with a theme..but I'm waiting for rc1 before I flash anything
  • C'mon you guys. Every SGS on the planet has Froyo except the US versions. The only one that surprises me is the Epic. Sprint put 2.2 put on the Evo fast, faster than VRZ did for the DInc.
  • Now if only they'd make a ROM for the Fascinate! I don't even care if my phone ever gets FroYo, honestly. It's amazing the way it is, but it'd just be the cherry on top if we could get a rom, or even an official update.
  • roms are coming for most makes I would imagine. I am rockin' the OMGBv6 on my Incredible now. Couple of bugs, but it is sweet!
  • I tried out the latest yesterday. It's still too slow to use as an everyday ROM (not to mention the fact that the camera doesn't work), but I sure am glad that there are developers like punk.kaos, Conap, Tazzpatriot, Tenzomonk and Zach.xtr who still continue to develop for the humble Eris!
