Between now and November 10th, we're partnering with Waze to give away Galaxy Tab (or an iPad if you're feeling cross-platform). Here's how it works:

  1. Download and install Waze from the Android Market (you can use the QR code here.)
  2. Drive around with Waze and collect "Road Goodies" - which basically just means drive over the Android logos as you move about your city. As you can see above, they are *everywhere*.
  3. It's a competition between iPhone users, Android users, and BlackBerry users - which is to say you're up against the kids from TiPb and CrackBerry.com. Whichever site whose users collect the most Road Goodies will win and be able to give a tablet away to one of their users - selected randomly from amongst the top 25 collectors. Remember - you only get credit for driving over the Android icons.
  4. That's it! Use Waze, collect Road Goodies, and stick it to those iPhone and BlackBerry users while automatically getting a chance to win an iPad or Tab

What's Waze, then? It's a free social mapping tool: you can get directions, find out where the traffic is, ping other users, and generally find your way around while helping other Waze users get better location and traffic information. Check out the full details on the Waze Blog.

Win a Galaxy Tab from Waze and Android Central!

If McDonalds can be sued and lose for their coffee being too hot, what is going to happen to AC and Dieter after someone gets run over while using this app? I would change that tag line and remove AC and Dieter toot sweet. When the (Your) defense lawyer gets blind sided by the Prosecuting attorney by "Win a Galaxy Tab from Waze and Android Central! Posted on Monday, Nov 1, 2010 by Dieter Bohn" You might as well bend over. Between all the idiots amongst all of the sites of Smartphone Experts, how many can you see possibly getting into an accident while using this app? Then blaming AC to get out of trouble and redirect the blame? Just sayin....

Anyone hear of the "Hold your wee for a wii" contest a while back in Sacramento? This has all the makings of trouble for AC and the other participating smartphone experts sites with potential nationwide headlines, the kind you do not want.

Word,

I just went out and gave this a try during my lunch break. The GPS was all over the place. I'd drive over a little android icon but my position would be 300 feet behind me. When it would finally locate me, it would skip right over the icon.

I somehow managed 87 points because the GPS had me on side streets I wasnt even on, lol.

So Captivate users are basically out in the cold on this one, since a good portion of us have borked GPS's (GPSes? GPSssss?), huh? Color me bummed.

So, according to the Waze blog: "Only road goodies eaten by a phone corresponding to the type of road goodie will count – ie: if an iPhone user eats an Android road goodie, the points will not count for either blog."

Does this mean we could also strategically try to eat the iOS and Blackberry icons in order to prevent those guys from getting them?

I don't feel this is a fair contest for folks living in
urban areas who use public transportation!!!

Feeling left out in the cold on this one.

This is sooo a lawsuit waiting to happen driving while looking at a map on trying to "Hit" invisible things. Please be careful if you plan to participate in this contest.

LOL did the cops give you a funny look when you told them you were trying to hit the little green robot that is invisible ?

Exactly.

Totally illegal for the driver to do this in my state.

So bring a friend to do the driving.

reading this made me intrsted in downloading this app and i love it idc about the prizes really i think the app it great lots of diffrent features and functions great app dev.

no sad part is i think that the few times i did type and drive i typed better. i just type so fast i miss letters sometimes oh well.

Most def should have run this by legal. I dont think encouraging people to use there phone while they drive is a great idea. Especially for a Tab or (max)ipad, it just ain't worth it

I love AC, but I have to come clean, this is really stupid, the time you waste getting all these points, you could be out working over time or doing an extra job to get the cash for a tab... lmfao. Regardless neither are worth it.
