Delayed orders will be upgraded to overnight shipping, Motorola says

Those of us in the U.S. who ordered a Moto G (erm, some of us ordered more than one) on launch day have been awaiting shipping notices this week. Looks like we've got another week to go. 

Motorola this evening sent out e-mails announcing a delay because of the winter storm that struck much of the U.S., including Moto's fulfillment center in Fort Worth, Texas. That's caused a delay in shipping.

The good news? Moto's upgrading everyone to free overnight shipping by Dec. 17, if not sooner. We've seen at least one e-mail that says Dec. 14.

Here's the full e-mail:

Hi Phil,

As you may have heard, large parts of the United States were hit by winter storm Dion, including our fulfillment center in Fort Worth, Texas. Our operations are still recovering from the storm’s impact while also trying to keep up with the incredible demand for Moto G.

For these reasons, your phone order wasn’t shipped when we originally estimated. We sincerely apologize for the delay and want you to know that your Moto G will ship by December 17th via a free upgrade to overnight delivery. (We’ll still send you a shipping confirmation with tracking number so you can see a more accurate delivery day/time.)

We know how excited you are to receive your phone, and we’re so grateful you chose Moto G. Thanks again for your purchase—and for your patience.

Yours is probably being shipped. They only charge you once the shipping process has begun.

It better have shipped. I was charged the full amount today, yet, no email confirming this. Jesus. H, Moto!

bought accessories from them - never got the email, it took me running around forever to find out it was the snow - but i have been charged full retail, continues to say unshiped, and no plan to reimburse me for paying for 2-day shipping.

My account go hit up to. Then I talked to a rep, and he said they showed no record of it, but I pulled up my account and read off the transaction number to him. He just said their systems hadn't updated yet. Then later tonight I get this same email. Jesus H Moto indeed.

Ice got the moto g and live in the UK had it about a week now and its awesome no lag or anything o my problem is only 8 GB memory :/

Should've gone with 16 GB..
Follow the next 5 steps and you should be fine:
1) Prioritze
2) Upload to cloud
3) Delete
4) Uninstall
5) Clear cache, data, etc..

I also went for the 8GB model. Unfortunately, while in the US there's a $20 price difference between the two models, in the UK that translated somehow into £30. I don't see how that's acceptable, so I'll have to manage with 8GB.

This actually works to my benefit. I ordered one for my wife for Christmas. This will give a few days to see if she likes it to be able to return it in the 14 day return window.

We Texans are not use to all this ice! An ice storm shut down DFW last Thursday Night through about yesterday. Fort Worth areas were hit harder that further East in Dallas. I feel you'alls pain!

One time it iced in Houston.. All freeways got shut down after few too many crashes. I worked hot shot deliveries back then and I didn't check in that day and dispatch didn't bother calling me either.

Here in Chicago, we call it Monday! Haha, you would think that after all of this time I'd be used to the winter, but it is not for me!

Haha yeah, it's hard to get used to this, even after living here for all of forever, lol.

I'm not surprised with all the crazy weather that's happening everywhere. Glad some people are getting theirs anyways! This seems to be sooo much smoother than some Nexus launches we could all name...

Another shipping fail. Google/moto should have seen this coming and planned accordingly.

How may times will they mess up shipping a product before they get it right? Did they learn nothing from HTC?

Cheap decent specs

Plus, much of the world doesn't even have LTE. It's not worth the extra costs. By excluding LTE, Motorola saves money and increases their target market.

Some people care absolutely nothing about specs or performance. They want a phone to talk on and send a few texts. This phone should be fine for them.

Price, stock Android, specs good enough for a vast majority of use cases, reasonable size for those of us who don't like giant phones.

I think the hype is over a really decent phone for the price. No better value if you use prepayed phone service in the US.

Amir47 why the hype over this device?? You obviously don't understand the words value for money?? It's a very dirt cheap quad core device with a fantastic HD screen and great performance for such a cheap price. It's very solidly built too doesn't feel or perform in a cheap way. So that's what the hype is about. People can get a quad core device at a great price without being crap unlike many other cheap Android phones.

I could just pick up a nexus 4 and it perform better and get faster updates. This will not get updates as fast as the X.

But, the Nexus 4 is used and costs more. This is new and being sold for under 200 dollars. There really is no comparison.

And, more than likely, the person purchasing this handset cares more about getting a great handset for the money versus the version of Android it's running.

Considering the fact that most apps and features are being updated the Google Play Store. Whatever version of Android the phone is running is becoming increasingly null and void.

I'm switching off my N4. Moto G should be an improvement in battery-- all I care about along with price. sent me defective case and wouldn't pay for return shipping. .... Thanks for sending me a label for free return and then shorting my credit. .. Pretty sleazy. ..

Sorry but according to the screen shots on I have to call bullshit on the expedited shipping lie. Also people who ordered through other places are affected like myself. I ordered through Amazon. My first order that didnt arrive on time there was some rumor that first set of orders was being shipped the international version so when it hadnt even shipped by the 5th I canclled (you can see it was the day I was supposed to get it). Then on the 6th I replaced the order and as of this morning it still has not shipped. When I contacted Amazon last night to ask if they should be shipping last night the support drone said;
"01:12 AM(GMT) Dayana S(CSA): I'm sorry Richard, I don't know if this order will be shipped today.
Because it says that it Usually ships in 4 to 6 weeks "

I thought owning a Samsung Captivate was frustrating, at least after purchase I got to touch the phone...

And son of a #$@%#$@%!@# if Amazon didnt just change my dates

Amazon just charged my cc tonight and they changed the status from December 24 to preparing to ship.

The part that is is you cancelling an order and reordering the next day.

Thanks I appreciate the clarity of your analogy. One of the reasons I cancled the inital order was as we approached the ship date the item itself changed numerous times. If I pulled up the order and clicked on the item instead of taking me back to the 16GB US version it first started taking me back to the 8GB US version and then on the 5th it started taking me to an 8GB international version. Since I didnt want to get the wrong phone I cancelled. Then on the 6th Amazon had new listings up with new links and I re-placed the order. I was not the only one to note this issue as seen

So stupid or not the last thing I wanted was to get the wrong phone after that long of a wait.
