LG Optimus G Pro

Value Pack update rolling out now, brings new camera/playback features

The LG Optimus G Pro may yet be the year's best oversized smartphone -- but it's also one that not many of us here in the U.S. have gotten to play with yet. We've been enjoying the 5.5-inch phone in its Korean form for a while now (be sure to check out our review), and there's a strong possibility we'll see it on AT&T in the coming weeks.

Today, however, LG's teasing a black version of its latest and greatest (on Korea's U+ network) on Facebook. Looks like it's got the same sort of reflective design on the battery cover, but otherwise everything else is the same.

And we also just got the "Value pack" update to our Optimus G Pro, and everything seems to work as advertised. We've now got "Smart video," where playback stops if we look away. Dual cameras work as well -- we can shoot ourselves as we shoot someone (or something) else, and we can pause and resume video recording.

The update keeps the Optimus G Pro on Android 4.1.2 -- no word yet on when we might see an update to Android 4.2.

Black looks okay but I prefer silver or white after having a black iPhone for 4 years. At this point I just want the phone to hurry up and release!

Hurry up and give it to the U.S. LG!! Give us an option to buy it unlocked like almost everyone else is with their flagship devices!!
