Kyocera Rise

The Kyocera Rise will be available on Sprint starting August 19 for only $19, and on August 31 on Virgin Mobile for $99, it has been announced.

The Rise was first announced at CTIA -- a 3.5-inch Android phone that was clearly designed as an entry-level device. Featuring a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 3.2 MP camera, 1GHz processor and powered by a 1500mAh battery, the specs are reasonable though nothing outstanding. One key feature on the Kyocera Rise is the inclusion of Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, making for an improved user experience over the Gingerbread-based ROMs on man entry-level phones.

I gotta say: for $20, this is a pretty sweet deal. There are many higher end phones w/o ICS. Way to go, Sprint

so improper.

Not everyone spends all day reading tech websites, and drooling over giant phones. Some people actually could care less about their phone, as long as it works!

Now that's not a bad deal at all. U can't get a better phone for only $20.

tgrant1975 says:

And its actually not a bad lookin phone

That capacative three-dot menu button is interesting.

It's so cute. The Photon Q is too nice to pass up though. Saving $180 ($7.50 a month...) over the course of a 2 year contract isn't worth it for a quite inferior phone.

This a solid looking phone for parents with kids who have slippery hands. As a entery level phone Sprint has picked up a good device.

tgrant1975 says:

@kickbush... If ur not that into phones and don't have a problems starting a new contract and save over $100 then it's not bad at all like I said.. idiot!

You guys are all missing out on the best part of this phone... no 4G. This is a great phone for people that want something that has a little bit of power but don't live in a 4G area and probably won't get LTE anytime soon (such as myself). If I didn't already have a galaxy S2 I'd be grabbing one of these in a heartbeat to save myself $120 a year for something that I CANNOT USE. Not that I'm bitter or anything ;)
