Just one time, I would love for Verizon to beat one of the carriers out the gate with a phone update....

minus the International I9300, which will never see the kitkat update..

Had a feeling it would be this week.. Haven't got the notification yet but I think I'll wait to see if there's any glitches.. Hopefull the battery drain issue was resolved.. Looks like lots of good stuff in the update though :)

Android for this phone has come a long way!!! ICS 4.0.4, JB 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3, Now KitKat 4.4.2 that's five versions!!! That's got to be a record of some kind for Samsung!!!!

This was the phone that put Samsung on the map in Android land, and the smartphone landscape. It was the phone that started the wars between Apple and Samsung.

I'm hoping to see some news here tomorrow about Verizon sending the KitKat update to their loyal GS3 phone users. Grrr. The only thing Verizon is fast with is taking your money. :p

Good news but not gonna do this update since my GF her s3 is rooted and has WiFi tethering enabled and with this update we would have att t mobile Verizon or sprint software on it that would block the tethering again. And CM11 is just working well on the S3.

Curious as to who your carrier is, as I've been having a heck of a time trying to get CM11 on my T-Mobile S3 (Non-LTE).

I did the update last night and I went to sleep with my battery percentage at 75%..woke up to see it at 73%..its safe to say that the battery has definitely gotten better

Now this is interesting, I was planning to upgrade my phone next month when I hit the two year mark with ATT (Still cheaper to wait two years than use the NEXT program), but if this upgrade improves the phone's function I can hold out longer. Maybe even long enough to get a S5 prime, maybe even a S6.

I updated OTA last night. FIle is about 400MB in size and took 40 minutes to download over wifi. After that it took 20minutes to upgrade. During the upgrade there are a few times I thought the process was hung (just see the ATT globe) but patience is a virtue. It eventually finished. No issues what so ever. I am stock and not rooted.

Not sure I have noticed any differences yet.

After the KitKat update S-Voice no longer works. It says "Sorry, something is wrong with the server. Please try again."

Has anyone experienced any problems with the new kitkat update on the galaxy s3? The last update I did caused my battery to drain quickly and had problems staying connected to wifi. I had to do a factory reset. I dont want to do the update if these problems are still there.

I have a Samsung S3 by I 747 from AT&T installed the update and contact groups is still broken cannot add a contact to a group this function was working when I bought the phone and failed after the first update. I'm very disappointed they still have not fixed this issue.
I traded my iPhone in for the Samsung S3 because of group contacts and now Samsung has broken it.
Fix it or give me my money back Samsung.
