It's this fast.
Bring on the Huawei Nexus.
(And swing by our Mate S forums!)
Only if you could find it that fast...

It being on the back kills it for me. I leave my phone on my desk and being able to unlock it without picking it up is important for me.

It has double-tap to wake.
Phil, unlocking the phone and waking the phone are two different things!
I know. And I just did both.
Point is you can't do both without having to pick the phone up.
Putting the fingerprint sensor at the back is a very bad design decision.
It should either be on the home button like iPhone or on the side like Z5.
Oh, does the screen read your fingerprint then?
It should support smart unlock
Why do you think it doesn't?
Could be wrong, but I think he was saying in the sense that he should be able to set his work place as a safe area or use a connected device (possibly) to set a smart lock up if he's worried about having to take an extra step to unlock his phone on his desk. Course he could always set it up so that it doesn't completely lock for about 10 minutes, or whatever time, if he's using it that frequently.

That's my point, though. This fingerprint scanner isn't an extra step at all. That's all there is to it.
I think I'd rather have the fingerprint scanner on the front like the op2. I feel you don't have to adjust your hand quite as much in that position.
Shit, that IS fast
Posted from the LG G4 "Spigen + Anime" Edition. It says "Pointy end of the S Pen goes into the slot first. NOT the other way around".
I have the Mate 7 and if Huawei won't get their sh*t together about the software updates im not getting another Huawei.
Hint: It's a Nexus.
I eat my words. Too late in the night, I thought this was the Huawei Nexus! Sigh..
I forgive you.
They won't anytime soon. But if they're making the Nexus as rumored, that might be the way you go for you if wanting actual updates.
Wow. Now I don't feel so bad waiting to pre-order the new Moto X. Bring on the Huawei Nexus :)
How fast is the fingerprint reader on the OP2?
From what I've seen in video reviews, plenty fast. Arguably the fastest right now. Although for some reason, it doesn't like some people's fingers. :p
You have to be invited to touch it, you are 43,098 in line to try to unlock your phone.
Sorry make that 98,963. I invited friends
Check out the new Nexus! https://youtu.be/u3uFOavLo_w, not a Rick roll
LOL.. can't argue with that. Its super-annoying.
Rather have it on the front.

Yup. Bring on the nexus. That or the LG will be for me

Well I was really hoping for a front fingerprint scanner but if you are holding the phone in your hand putting it on the back makes sense.
If I do get a nexus I'm going to have to get use to software keys again. I use to use software keys on my Oneplus one but decided to switch to hardware because I get more screen

How fast do I run away when I see that name?
"Wayway" fast? Hehe cool though a bit anti/counter inuitive having to pick up the phone to use it.
Reminds me of my OG Motorola Atrix on AT&T.

Except this one actually works.
That one worked well too, it's revisionist history to say it didn't. Go back and read the reviews.
It had tons of glitches. Tons. Worked is using the term loosely.
And from the atria support page, to remedy it when it didn't work, you had to turn it off and then back on.
Maybe you had a lemon?
The fingerprint scanner on the original Atrix was awesome. I unlocked my phone just by lightly touching it every time.
We can just carry around a prison mirror for faster unlocking also.
Question is....How well is it going to hold up from daily use? Or is it going to stop functioning within a couple months like some of the OPO2
I've been using the Mate 7 since it launched and the fingerprint scanner is still as sharp as it ever was.
That's an OP2 problem, you buy from a sham company you get subpar products. Pretty simple.
Sham company? I have a OPO, and, 11 months later, it's still as good as it came out if the box. Not a single issue whatsoever - something I cannot say about Samsung and Motorola flagships I've owned in the past. Only three devices have given me totally trouble-free service, my OPO, the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5. Funny how all three are considered "bargain basement" devices, yet are the only three that never made me fix anything or ever call customer support! I've owned almost every major flagship in the last 5 years (bar Sony and Apple devices), FYI.
They are a lying pos company with inferior products and no customer support.
Sure some good ones especially got out, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once and awhile.
Run from oppo don't walk
Ignore him and Nonexus they have some interesting obsession with OPO.
This is looking like a really good year for Android mobile.
Huawei is killing it
Yeah check out the reaction to the Nexus in my signature
How is this a big deal?
S6 has always been this fast for me?
As someone who owns an S6, no it hasn't.
Yeah it has, I have Sen mine be almost instantly on as the video shows.
Note 5 is just as fast but from the screen display on at lock screen..
Here is a baseline from a competing OEM for frame of reference.
This video only fails to show us if it is really unlocking or simply waking up the display. Because the later is instantaneous.
It showed both simultaneously.
Doesn't seem very fast. 12 month old devices unlock with the same speed. You would think they would be faster now.
I'm not sure the fingerprint sensor is all that fast. And having the sensor on the back seems like a pain in the butt to use. I'd rather tap the phone to unlock then pick up the phone vs picking up the phone then unlocking it.

I think most people doesn't know that having the back fingerprint sensors have one advantage that is you can use 2nd finger for primary purpose, and 3rd middle finger for secondary purpose (like for example, guest mode, your girlfriend or wife spot check your phone, your kids want to play with it, prank your friends etc)
