With Cyber Monday officially behind us, we can put the deals behind us (for now) and focus on stuff that matters — such as debating light mode vs. dark mode.

This is a timeless point of contention in the Android space. Some users adore the stark, clean nature of light mode, others love living that dark mode life 24/7, and some switch back and forth between the two. Personally, I'm a switcher.

Some of our AC forum members recently got to talking about this subject once again, with the conversation going as follows:

I have dark mode set for everything in Developer Mode.

yep yep, myself as well. The only thing about light mode is that maybe it's just me but when you pull down the notification shade for your quick settings toggles, the top of the box looks a little bit nicer in light node than it does in dark mode. Some apps do look better in light mode versus dark mode. Maybe it's just me though. Lol...

I tend to lean more towards dark mode but sometimes I'll switch to light mode to switch the look up a bit. Also, depends on the wallpaper I use. I tend to use dark mode probably like 85% of the time and the other 25% light mode.

I'm a dark mode dude.

  • Dark mode, since it came out. I remember discovering it on my BlackBerry.
  • Force dark mode. The ability to use a dark theme was what made me switch to a Samsung phone when Google broke substratum in Android 9.
  • I use dark mode when I can. I notice that it seems to switch to light mode (my navigation bar on the bottom goes light) when I use an apps dark mode setting, which is less than ideal. I even switched my pc to dark mode.
  • 100% without doubt dark mode. My only issue is the hypertext lines are not legible due to the color they have chosen. I wish I could change that. I have the same issue in Gmail as well. I have to flip it to light mode to read it. And Google calendar for that matter.
  • I went to the dark side and that's were I will stay.
  • Dark mode everything. It is easier on the eyes for me.
  • Dark FTW !!
My eyes have never been so happy!
  • Light during the day; dark at night.
  • Light. Feel like I can never see anything in dark mode.
  • Dark. i like my batterylife.
  • I like the nice clean open light mode. The dark makes me feel a bit claustrophobic. Also I can see dark letters on a light background much better than I see white letters on black. They glow and aren't distinct.
  • DARK. Once you go black you never go back.
  • Dark mode whenever is available.
It's easier for me for reading.
