New Huawei Watch 'Elegant' and 'Jewel' models launch for Q1 2016 release

Though Huawei already offers a respectable set of case and band options for the Huawei Watch, it's expanding its lineup today with the new "Elegant" and "Jewel" models. The design of the two new models skews toward the female contingent, with gold cases, thinner bands and in the case of the Jewel model, jewels on the bezel. Naturally they're being shown off with some pre-loaded watch faces that match that aesthetic as well.

The watches are identical in terms of specs to the original slate of designs, with the one key exception being an overall case that's actually larger than the original — now 44mm instead of 42. That's an odd bump in size for a watch that you'd expect to be smaller considering its positioning, particularly with how big the Huawei Watch already is. But in the grand scheme of this big of a watch 2mm isn't going to be a deal breaker, and the models seem to offer a bit slimmer of bands (though the lugs are the same 18mm).

Huawei isn't spilling too many details on the availability of the new Elegant and Jewel models, though we know to expect them at some point in Q1 of this year. Pricing isn't specified just yet other than the fact that they'll land in the current Huawei Watch range of $349 to $799 — and just like the original models we can likely expect a few different choices of bands with a variety of looks and prices.

  • Those look pretty good. It seems to me their target market is women for these.
  • Yes, the iPhone crowd. Hahaha
  • Coming from Moto 360 I feel the Huawei is tiny lol and wth new models? Still waiting on them to release their flat bands that have said coming soon on their site since forever
  • I'm a woman and I think they are pretty ugly. Maybe they are for women who are into fake bling. The one with the CZs (or crystals?) around the bezel looks especially awful.
  • I'm not impressed. I'm not a girl either but I still don't see many girls being too interested in this. The Huawei Watch is gorgeous, this seems a bit off kilter. The watch is larger, the band is smaller, and the lugs are the same. It all looks a bit strange.
  • I like them, particularly the Elegant, not fond of the wristband colors though. Posted from my Moto X Pure Edition via the Android Central App
  • Too big and too blingy I agree. Maybe the other colors will be better. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I love the look and can't wait for it to be on sale. I think it looks very cool. When they say Q1 being released it should be able to get it soon hopefully. I haven't seen any updates on this smartwatch.
