Droid RAZR HD

Roaming issues to be addressed by small update

Motorola has posted details about an update coming for the original Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX . While Motorola has already confirmed that these devices won't go past Android 4.1.2 it is obvious that this won't be KitKat, but it is still great to see. The update is set to fix some roaming issues that the device experienced in Canada as well as a bug fix for when you are roaming in extended networks, as well as a few other bug fixes as well.

Hopefully Motorola is able to push out the update quickly, and if all goes well in the initial testing get it out to everyone.  If you own one of these devices keep your eyes out for the update and be sure to let us know when you receive it.

I don't think I've ever had a roaming issue, but then I'm not normally roaming. I'd rather have KitKat.

I've been running CM11 Android 4.4.2 since early December. I have been updating nightly most of the major bugs have been addressed and the stability is great.

As well, as well, as well

" as well as a bug fix for when you are roaming in extended networks, as well as a few other bug fixes as well "

Also, this sentence doesn't really work

"While Motorola has already confirmed that these devices won't go past Android 4.1.2 it is obvious that this won't be KitKat, but it is still great to see."

Hope it fixes the lag issue that so many users are complaining. I was about to give up on Moto altogether.

I think they should unlock the bootloader for those phones

Moto should update their old flagships...my S III is on 4.3....kind of disappointing

It's possible that New Moto doesn't have a lot of the people from Old Moto that worked on that software, and upgrading the older phones would probably mean porting their new software to it rather than doing an upgrade of the current software and skin, and they're kinda near EoL anyway.

Hope it deal with the serious lag the last update created!! Loved my Razr Maxx, till then!

Disable the Facebook app from your RAZR or MAXX to speed the phone up. My wife and I both have had the MAXX For almost 2 years and have had slow down issues for a long time. Once we deleted the Facebook app, it was like a new phone.

shumi says:

exactly! Facebook app kills the phone! Remove it and your phone will be running much smoother and faster!

does the update include the RAZR HD ?

Dperks17 says:

No RAZR m?

The Razr M is from the generation after these devices, alongside the Razr HD and the Razr Maxx HD. All 3 of those will be getting official Kit-Kat sometime in the next few months.
