What you need to know
- Google has added the Explore Tab to YouTube Music's desktop app.
- The Explore tab replaces the Hotlist app as an easier way to discover new music.
- It made its debut on iOS and Android roughly a month ago.
Google has quietly updated the YouTube Music web app to feature the new Explore tab. replacing the old Hotlist section that lived in its place.
Google had already killed the tab on Android and later iOS, the web app was just a little slow on the uptake.
Users of the web app will find these two new sections:
New Releases will feature the latest popular albums, tracks and music videos, as well as brand new content suggested based on your listening history.
Moods & Genres will help users find the perfect playlist or genre for any moment, whether you are relaxing, working out, or in the mood for some feel-good music.
Google recently unveiled a tool that would allow users of the old Google Play Music service to transfer their collection over to YouTube Music. That said, not all mobile features have made their way over to the web client. Users will still find themselves lacking lyrics support, and the Now-playing screen resembles the older YouTube Music interface more than it does the newer one.
Google still has work to do with YouTube Music, but it's getting there, slowly but surely.
