Google Maps gets lane guidance in 15 more European countries

Google Maps for Android has picked up support for lane guidance, a feature that tells you which lane you should be in before your next turn, in a whole slew of new European countries today, including Denmark, Portugal, Austria, Greece, and many more.

Here are the newly supported countries, from Google:

Google Maps for mobile now has navigation lane guidance for Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Lane guidance initially rolled out in May of last year, and recently expanded to several other European countries last December. With this most recent expansion, the feature is now supported in a total of 23 countries.

  • Nice. What a pity that no one here in Portugal gives a sh*t about which lane they're supposed to be in. Or about using the light signals when turning. Or basically anything that's in the Driver's Code lol
  • I seriously LOL'd
  • I've honestly never been anywhere in Europe where people drive like sane, functional human beings. I'm pretty sure that driver's ed in the Czech Republic consists of watching Death Race 2000 a few times. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Switzerland. It's literally the only European country where people are civilized on the roads. But then again, they are that way in everything. Cross the border to France and you're back in the asylum. However, justice be done, no one says "road-rage" like Italy. Driving in Rome is a lunatics task. As is actually trying to cross the road. The traffic lights? They're nice decorations. That's what they are, right? :P
  • I've been to both Rome and Naples, and I can tell you that Rome is a quiet orderly place compared to Naples.
  • Now THAT's a classic
  • Scandinavia is alright, really. Light signal usage could be improved, but people are generally quite sane. xD
  • Rest assured driving in South Carolina is just as bad. If somebody has a turn signal on, it was on when they bought the vehicle... I admit I'm a Android addict. But I don't have a problem with it. No, really I don't. Trust me!
  • Awesome!, Thank you from Denmark
  • Columbus Ohio: Now a European country. Posted via Android Central App
  • And the majority of NYC. Posted via Android Central App
  • Anyone noticed that when using google maps in navigation mode and saying ok google hotword the google search listening overlay, does not appear? A little g appears in the notification window, I assume its a bug. Posted via Android Central App (Nexus 7)
  • can anybody tell me the latest version of Google Maps ? and do give me a link of an apk file, thanks
