Droid Shadow keeps looking better and better

The Droid Shadow (a.k.a. the Droid X, Droid X-Treme, Droid 2) is getting closer, and today new eye-popping images appearedT. his beauty’s casing is almost completely made of metal, just like its predecessor. To make things even more sexy, it’s also rumored to be basking in Froyo goodness, and outfitted with an HDMI port. If all that’s not enough for you, then maybe the fact that it will also be running a whopping nine home screens will be. Oh, and I almost forgot – there’s no sign of Motorblur, which can be considered a blessing to some. Needless to say, this phone is definitely shaping up to be a show-stealer.  [via Droid-Life]

  • wooooow! glad i held off on the incredible
  • NIIIIIIIICCCCCEEEEE sleek but yet a slider is a big plus.
  • LOL! I've already come to the conclusion that I may need to buy a new Android phone every 2 months.
  • I agree, running out of upgrades and room for extra 9.99 lines >_<
  • The new top dog in Android. ...probably for only a month. :p
  • cant wait
  • It will have a 4.1" screen. If it has a front facing camera and LTE support then the EVO might have to step aside.
  • Don't get your hopes up, Verizon isn't planning 4G LTE service until closer to 2012... and for the front camera, possibly. The chip specs still seem underclocked to the EVO, but it can pull off a faster process time with the proper config. we'll see.
  • Uuhh where do you get your info ? End of 2010 early 2011 for 4g launch on Verizon
  • In what, like 3 markets?
  • actually they will have 30 markets covered by the end of the year. Verizon is coming out with connection first the then devices after that. So by 2011 there will already be 30 markets and more coming everyday
  • Agreed. I Randomly called Big Red today to remove a feature which we didnt need. While I had the guy on the phone I asked what V's response will be to AT&T's tiered pricing plan. He said that Big Red was shooting for Q4 release of LTE in 30 markets and at that time a complete restructuring of Data plans would unveiled. I know I know, more of the same 'I called Verizon' or 'I know a guy'
Still though, it was all volunteered info on his behalf so it at least makes you think it may be legit.
  • What size is the screen ?? I want that phone !!!!
  • Zzzzzz 780mhz and 45nam chip and 2gb internal boo
  • once no motoblur gets confirmed (or at least the ability to turn it off), consider my deposit put down
  • 780mhz. The new top dog in android!
  • shadow and droid2 are completely different handsets, droid 2 is gonna be out in nov, shadow around fathers day
  • I may have just missed it, but does it have a hardware keyboard???
  • how would 780mhz be the new top dog? with the 1 gig snapdragons on the incredible? but it looks to be a nice phone though and the 9 home screens are nice
  • FYI a 800 mhz OMAP 3430 in an overclocked moto droid performs on part with a 1 ghz snapdragon. This thing will run circles around a snapdragon. Clock speed isn't everything.
  • Isn't the reason for this because the droid and the xtreme both have its own gpu and cpu compared to the snapdragon that has both in the cpu clock speed compared to the droid/xtreme or am I wrong on this?
  • It may run at 780mhz but it also has its own dedicated gpu unlike the snapdragon. That has a gpu in the 1ghz enless im mistaken which would make it very close in speed i would think. Plus better in gaming framerate.
  • The current Droid is a heavy phone , if these have bigger screens and are also metal , going to be like holding a brick ?? I hope not , whats the difference between the shadow and droid 2 ??
  • Heavy? Really?
  • "Grow stronger." -- Herger the Joyous
  • I see another big expense coming on when I replace my Incredible with the Shadow :D
  • I'm more so waiting for the official Droid 2. A physical keyboard has become somewhat of a mandatory necessity for me. Nevertheless, this phone looks like its gonna be a show stopper either way.
  • 1. I have a buddy who is jumping from ATT to VZW any time now and wants an Incredible. I'm sorta encouraging him to hold off and see what this Moto brings. Especially w/ the growing INCREDIBLE DELAYS, worst case is he'll have more choices in a month from now. Any thoughts? 2. Is the Extreme screen 4.1 or 4.3", "Blurred" or not?, Eclaire or Froyo? Too many conflicts and rumors reported... thanks!
  • 1. I'd tell your buddy to wait a month or so to see what this new droid brings. 2. Who knows what the real specs and details are. I would wait till I hear it right out of Verizon's or Motorola's mouth. Reports have said that Motorola has stated that there is no blur and that no phone with the title droid in it will come with blur. Atleast as long as its from Motorola. But how reliable that info is I don't know.
  • So wait... does this phone have a physical keyboard?
  • no it don't from the sounds of it its basically a keyboard-less droid 2
  • From what I have read, the keyboard is on the Droid 2. This is a 2nd device that from what I can tell is a slab and larger than the Droid 2.
  • Wishful thinking: I hope the specs are at least comparable to the EVO or better, and of course Sprint!
  • the phone is already confirmed for verizon....why would sprint basically get the same phone as the evo with a few differences?
  • Am I missing something? When I click the link on Droid Shadow above the corresponding story says the specs are pretty much the same as the Evo. Screen, camera, processor. Is that wrong? Is it linking to a totally different phone?
  • Its already been confirmed to have 8gb of internal storage 8gb micro SD and it will have blur but it can be disabled
  • 780mhz is still impressive. Only a year ago, the average tech lover here would only dream of seeing upwards of 1ghz in a cell phone. It's crazy. We are starting to treat our phones like muscle cars were of the 70's, constantly pushing every little bit of more function and speed. Then again, I suppose the contours on the back of my Incredible were race car inspired.

  • Doesn't it have Ninjablur? And um, 9? If its vanilla android....wtf are you gonna do with all those screens? I'm currently playing around with some Home replacements, and its hard enough to fill up 5 with no HTC widgets.
  • anyone want to buy a slightly used Incredible :)
  • Do you think this phone will have a twin model like the Droid/Milestone? I would like to see it on this side of the Pond. Very much... :)
  • I would also love to see this available for Canada, a twin model would be great.
  • Damn. The Droid Shadow! And it'll be running Froyo!Looks sweeter than the Evo! What processor will it have a SnapDragon? I'll have to upgrade ASAP!!! Anyway guys,BigRed will test the 4g LTE out first before the phone will be available. Personally I hope they don't get the iPhone.
