Are you going to buy the OnePlus 8/8 Pro?

Yesterday was a big day for OnePlus. During a live-streamed launch event, the company officially unveiled the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

The regular OnePlus 8 is a pretty subtle upgrade from the OnePlus 7T, offering the same 90Hz AMOLED display, a familiar triple rear camera setup, and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 865 processor. The OnePlus 8 Pro is easily the more interesting of the two phones, as it's the first OnePlus phone to come with wireless charging, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and offers an official IP68 dust/water resistance rating.

There's no doubt these are both impressive phones, but with starting price tags of $699 and $899, respectively, is anyone actually interested in buying them? Here's what some of our forum members have to say.

I have the 1+7P and will wait until 9

I have bever had. One Plus phone but if I had that perfectly unbroken screen I wouldn't want to trade it for one with a hole punch in it. I don't mind the hole punch in the S10+ but I do like the fullscreen of the One Plus 7 Pro

all very insightful answers. after looking at the specs and research. the OnePlus 8 pro is a great phone. but I agree I had the 7t pro 5G McLaren and I love The unbroken screen. I really like the pop up camera wish they would did not go away with that. I think the 7t pro has a pretty good camera with the last couple of weeks they did. I think I'm going to wait and see what the OnePlus 9 is...

  • Perfectly happy with my 7T, especially after seeing the price.
  • They have curved/waterfall displays, so no.
  • I agree! I'll have to stick to my 1+6 for a little longer...
  • I wish they'd have offered the black in frosted glass, or even a silver option. Alas, I'll probably still get one, likely the black when they offer it with the 8 GB RAM & 128GB storage. I don't really need to pay $100 for specs I don't need.
  • Yes. Yes I am. Then I'm going to contrast and compare to my LG V60...then I'm probably giving it back. There isn't enough there but who knows, it just might surprise me.
  • Given the world situation I will not buy anything chinese. Especially electronics.
  • Everything you buy is from China lol
  • I know it isn't always possible to avoid buying chinese, but I do when possible. There are many very good electronics not produced in china.
  • All built with parts made in China.
  • Nah. I'm happy with my S20+. Nothing about the OnePlus 8 makes me say "I gotta have it".
And If I was in the market for a OnePlus device, I'd probably buy a 7T. Not a huge difference between the 7T and the 8. Definitely not worth the price difference.
  • The green one is £100 more, just for that colour!
  • Well, just for that and the extra 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Still not worth an extra hundred quid, but it is more than just the colour.
  • Bad timing to be releasing a more expensive phone. So many people losing their jobs. I suspect this will flop like the S20 series and really any expensive new phone. This is going to be a horrendous year for phone sales even with US BOGO or trade ins.
  • You must have absolutely read my mind!!
  • Right in time for my stimulus check :) people that lost jobs will get them back very soon. People that lost jobs and have zero money, should be walking with Nokia 3310, not OnePlus 5,6,7, or 8
  • Happy with my 7T after seeing the price although the regular OnePlus 8 is only £50 more than the 7T here in the UK at £599 but I'm bummed that only the Pro models are getting DDR5 RAM though but at least both models are available in 8GB and 12GB RAM options though.
