An official Facebook Android application has been peculiarly missing from Android Market and some have pointed towards Google and Facebook's contentious history as being the reason why. Well, it looks like that's all about to change. Reports are pointing towards an official Facebook Android application to launch possibly as soon as the end of this week.

What's in store for the official Facebook application? Well, it's going to launch with a limited feature set (when compared to the iPhone Facebook app) that'll focus on having the full Facebook stream. The Android Facebook app is built around the stream and status updates, which should tie in neatly with Android's beautiful notification system.

So Facebook and Android sitting in a tree. Hopefully, it'll be a worthwhile application! What current app do you use for Facebook on your Android Phone?

I use fbook, which is no longer available on the Market for some reason. it's not great, but gets the job done.

I did have fbook, but I found it to be so poor that I just uninstalled it a few days ago after realizing that I had barely used it in months. Here's hoping the official app is worth using.

I started using Bloo. But then then the frequent updates just stopped all of a sudden. So I started using Babbler, which works pretty good, but also has its bugs. Fbook was garbage. It was just a wrapper. Basically that means it was stripped down browser viewing x.facebook.com. It was not an app.

I jump between Babbler and Bloo. Babbler is what I use primarilly, but Bloo is handy for its calendar-sync options.

Very good article. I was recently blogging on The Netflix Prize, which deals with the quality of the recommendation. However, conclusions are drawn primarily off of user ratings. People don't seem to bother rating on facebook, I know I don't. I wonder what correlations exist there...
