LG Optimus 3D ;/ Thrill 4G

Four months to the day after the international LG Optimus 3D got bumped up to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, owners of the AT&T version, the LG Thrill 4G, are finally getting their update. The software upgrade, which brings the Thrill up to version 20P, also adds in a couple of features from the Optimus 3D's Gingerbread update, including the 2D and 3D video editor, faster gallery performance and improved video quality. That's on top of all the usual goodies you get in Gingerbread, such as UI tweaks and browser improvements.

The update is currently available through LG's PC software update utility, which can be a little unstable at times, so you'll want to make sure you have all the right drivers installed before you begin.

In the future, Optimus 3D owners can look forward to a further update to Android 4.0, though there's been no specific commitment to bring the Thrill up to ICS at the same time. But given the virtually identical hardware, we'd be surprised if the phone remained on Gingerbread forever.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I would just like to note that the Samsung Infuse has NOT gotten Gingerbread as of yet. I repeat, the Samsung Infuse has NOT gotten Gingerbread as of Mar 22, 2012.

A friend has that phone and that is just pathetic. Great phone just lacking in features and not really supported in the dev community either.

That is just ridiculous. Better late than never I guess. Motorola seems to be the best when it comes to skinned updates. Three months from release should be the norm or base. Hate to say it but I hope Google goes Nexus with Motorola and the updates hit devices two months after release and just changes the names of all Motorola phones to Google Phones.

My brother has been griping about this for months, and months, and months. I felt bad for him (he's not the rooting type). He'll be really happy to hear this - I just texted him. But, why isn't it OTA?

Finally, freaking AT&T had promised all phones Launched in 2011 (including this phone) would have Gingerbread by the end of 2011....

It's now 3-4 months nearly past due... nice AT&T, nice.

While everyone impatiently waits their ICS updates, its so nice of Goldstar to finally get around to releasing Gingerbread.... o_O

Well I have this phone, but needless to say, I WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER android PHONE AGAIN. I hate these phones with a passion. I am upgrade eligible in april and I'm going directly to the newest iPhone that is out. I should have stuck with Apple in the first place, but wanted to give the little useless android things a try. Good luck to all of you using these bloody android devices. This one was close to the death of me because of the annoyances. I can't use or update the software on my Mac so I need to borrow my wifes pc thing to update the phone, and even updating it is a pain.
