chromecast

The BBC Sports app for Android has been updated today with a few new features, most notably a way for the app to connect to a Chromecast HDMI dongle for the first time so that live and on-demand video from the app can be streamed from a smartphone or tablet to a big screen television.

In addition to the new Chromecast support, the BBC Sports app now has a new dedicated section for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which are set to begin later this week in Glasgow, Scotland. The app will provide live video and highlights, along with a "full schedule, live text commentary, medals table, reports and features and analysis." There's even a way to set the app up so that alerts can be sent out for gold, silver and bronze medal wins.

If you live in the UK, do you plan to use the new features on the BBC Sports app, including the streaming video support via Chromecast?

I might be using the chromecast support but the Commonwealth Games stuff, meh. Not bothered saying that I never bothered with the Olympics last year.

People actually use Chromecast? I picked one up earlier and after a couple hours of playing around with it, setting up....etc....I realized the casting feature to your television constantly freezes. Then when I looked online it appears most of the world population agrees with me in reference to all the forums and threads out there. Horrible product. Great idea but Google really let me down. After a failed Logitech Revue and a Chromecast I now know we are all just lab rats being used for terrible software and hardware products that become outdated 6 months after it's baught. My crappy Logitech Revue still works waaaay better than the chromecast did for the 2 hrs I had it.

Great product, totally disagree, and as for saying most of the world has problems with it, that's plain stupid. Obviously it needs a reasonable WiFi and Internet connection, but so does any streaming device. I use it all the time without problems.
