HTC One on Verizon

469MB update brings the HTC One to Android 4.3 and fixes a few bugs

Folks with an HTC One on Verizon should start checking for a software update, as the OTA to Android 4.3 is pushing out now. The update to 4.3 also carries a few other minor changes:

  • OS Upgrade to Android Jelly Bean 4.3
  • VZ Cloud application can back up contacts, photos and more
  • Ability to add your music to video highlights

Check your device through the settings menu, then head into the forums to discuss.

Thanks everyone who sent this in!

Sorry to hijack first comment but does anyone know if I can still keep root with Rootkeeper with this update? And if the 4.3 update breaks S-Off from Rumrunner?

bleached says:

If you have root and s-off, shouldn't you be using Kit Kat from the developer edition or GPe if you don't want Sense?

What seems funny, is that 4.3 was released alongside my tablet, and it seems like that has been a pretty long time ago.

I gave up on the update. I'm now enjoying CM 11 running 4.4.2. Goodbye Sense and hopefully soon, Verizon.

This is the first Android phone I haven't loaded a custom ROM on. I actually like the job HTC did with Sense this time around. It's fast and everything works as it should. BTW, I'm also loving Verizon service eventhough I also still use T-Mobile and AT&T on my other devices.

I couldn't agree more the HTC One on Verizon runs like a champ and I have not had the urge to root and crack flash.

Totally Agree. My first non-nexus phone and I'm honestly not dying to root it at all. And with all the extra free time I have from NOT reading pages and pages of ROM forum threads....

Are there any noteworthy improvements? I just finished the update and there's nothing I can see. I use Nova so am I missing some changes in the UI?

The WiFi for location feature is cool. I guess that's something.

I'm having trouble finding any real improvement over the 4.2 we had. I think Verizon just needed an excuse to add more bloatware to it lol

I had to restart my phone after downloading the update in order for the installation prompt to show up. Maybe that'll work?

Mine isn't even showing that an update is available.

OMG! This device is just getting 4.3 now? Really? 4.3 was released back in July and now its past mid December. Then again with it being on Verizon, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Way to go Verizon! You make my choice of leaving you feel so much better.

Updated...disabled the new bloatware....not really seeing any other changes at all. I think they just threw us a bone till 4.4 is ready.
