Nokia X update brings more Microsoft, a new task switcher and store

The Nokia X line of devices is recieving a sofware update which adds a number of new features and enhancements. These include a number of pre-installed Microsoft services, as well as a new app switcher.

When activated, the new app switcher displays your apps as a series of cards. This is a lot like the switcher found on the Nokia X2. To activate it, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the app switcher icon. You can select the app you want to switch to, or tap the "X" below an app to close it.

Three of Microsoft's services will now come pre-installed on the Nokia X. The note-taking app OneNote, Outlook.com email, and Microsoft's OneDrive are all now part of the Nokia X. They join Skype, which has been avialable on the Nokia X line from the start.

There are also some improvements to the Nokia Store. These changes are designed to make it easier to search and find apps and games on the store. The Store now also integrates with third-party stores so that you can search for apps in one place on your phone. There is also a new Home screen Spotlight widget for easier app discover, as well as one-click downloads.

The update is available for the Nokia X, X+, and XL. You can wait for it to download automatically, or go to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now to download the update manually.

Will you be grabbing this update for your Nokia X? Let us know below in the comments below.

Just...stop...can we just stop with this? Please?

It hurts me that this product even exists as it is the worst possible representation of both Android's and Microsoft's abilities.

Oh.. I thought Nokia X is dead! Like no more updates. I'm using Nokia X actually commenting this comment. Lol! It's my spare phone :P

Nokia X is dead as for future projects, but Microsoft promised to keep selling and supporting existing X devices, I imagine that, as usual, this will be for 2 or 3 years long.

Lol millions were sold in China. Don't say things if you don't know because it makes you seem like a fool.

It doesn't matter if anyone thinks it is a crap phone or anything else. I hate to see anyone get the shaft when buying a device. The company owes it to it's customers to put out updates, and it's nice to see them doing this since they are going to kill them off. I would never own one but there are folks who do and I am sure that they appreciate it, at least till they can get a different phone.

I agree with the spirit of your argument. But I also hate to see any consumer purchase an economic product that doesn't deliver the best possible experience. Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you shouldn't expect a reasonable level of excellence out of your technology.

Crap phone or not, its sad to see it go :(
We would all flash it with a custom rom anyways.
I was actually going to buy one for fun, but it looks like a waste of money now.
