It's not just the Galaxy S3 getting a generous helping of new features in its Android 4.1.2 update. According to reports from SamMobile, the international Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) and Galaxy Note 2 LTE (GT-N7105) are also receiving new Samsung-flavored software along with the new OS upgrade.

The biggest changes seem to be focused around the top of the screen. The notification shade is now customizable, so if you're not a fan of extraneous toggles and brightness dials, you can turn them off. If you keep your notification shade quick-controls, you'll notice new additions such as the ability to toggle the multi-window feature on and off. The notification bar itself has also changed slightly, going from grey back to black. And the lock screen's been changed up a little, with a new, optional ink effect in the on-screen "pool" when unlocking the device.

Web browser performance improvements are also noted, although we've always found Samsung's stock browser to be pretty fast. And finally, there's also a new Group Cast app for sharing music and photos with other Samsung device owners.

SamMobile says the Note 2 Android 4.1.2 upgrade is going live now in Poland (Note 2) and Sweden (Note 2 LTE). As ever, other countries are likely to vary, particularly when carriers need to get involved and certify the updates.

Are you seeing today's update on your international Galaxy Note 2? Let us know how you're getting on in the comments!

Hey androidcentral how can you report idiot spammers like this one?

bailes says:

I have the new Verizon Note II with Android 4.1.1. It already has most of the features you mentioned. The Block Mode button is still missing, but everything else works well.

jasongeiger says:

You can customize toggles out of the box? I would be surprised if we got this update at all or as intended from Verizon. Just saying...

I have sprint version and the notification features mentioned in this update I already have most. I hope this update here in the states actually brings something new.

foppa78 says:

I am on Sprint with 4.1.1 and I believe I already have all of the features mentioned.

TenshiNo says:

I was thinking the same thing about the features already being on my Sprint Note 2, including the "ink effect" and GroupCast app.

I have confirmed that I'm on 4.1.1 so who knows? I just want to get the update to 4.2 and play with the 3D panoramas :)

Does this include the Note 2 on T-Mobile prepaid?

SpookDroid says:

I just hit the "Update" button and nothing :( I have the International Version, unlocked so no carrier involved...but I don't know if being in Mexico will affect how I get the update :S

I'm still holding my breath until we get 4.2 (and hopefully Android is not in 5.3 by then ¬¬')

The only thing that's really holding my Sprint GN2 back is its lack of Google Wallet support. Here is to hoping that Sprint includes that in the 4.1.2 update... Matter of fact, just make it the full 4.2 update.

DWR_31 says:

The only thing still holding my Sprint GSIII is...
Nothing.
It's basically a smaller Note2 with Google Wallet. And I got mine for $200 cheaper than the Note2.

AND you dont have to worry about having the amazing speed of the Exynos Processor either! You get to take it nice and easy with a slower dual core Snapdragon and also get the honor of having Samsungs (most likely) last Pentile device!!! Lucky!!!

LOL touché. I have a Verizon Note 2 and absolutely love it.

someone help a android newbie. my note 2 is my first android phone. My international version came from the UK. I cant download this and change the language in setting right? I have to wait for it to be available for it to provided from samsung UK right?

SpookDroid says:

You should be able to change the language in the Settings... and yes, for your phone to get the update you'd have to wait for it to come out in the UK (if you're still on the original ROM, of course). I haven't got the update yet, and I'm still trying to figure out where my phone comes from :S

Jowlah says:

I'm just patiently waiting on Verizon to update my Galaxy S3. When the phone finally gets these features, I can see just how much better these features make my phone. The features on the Note 2 sound so cool. And they look very practical in use. Glad they will come to the S3 at some point.

And there are new S note widget too. right?

I live in Singapore and own a GT-N7100. Till today, I am unable to download 4.1.2 OTA (message says latest updates have been installed already; I'm still on 4.1.1). There is no update on KIES either.

So do I need to head down to a Samsung Service Centre to get the update installed? Will all my apps be gone after the update?

gilbertgk says:

Hello, I'm too new to this forum and to the Note2 to be of any help. I had a Galaxy Note but I dropped it several months ago and it died. It was a pleasure to work with! I bought the Note 2 and awoke to the nightmare.

All I know is that my Note 2 is bloated with all kinds of apps I don't need or want, and cannot remove them It's an International, unlocked GTN7100. Samsung wants nothing to do with it when you contact them because I'm using Straight Talk. I'm stuck with a bloated phone, no way to understand what to do about it, and all of the microphone icons except in Google are gone once I installed the sim card. My entire day is spent listening to whistles telling me that an update has just taken place on one of the dozen or so apps I want nothing to do with. It's absolutely unbelievable that a company like Samsung can be so irresponsible to allow this sort of image damaging activity to go on. I've gotten tips from well meaning bloggers but I haven't the foggiest idea what is meant by rooting a device, or using any of the other "techniques", and from what I'm seeing in the various replies, many of you understand the technology sufficiently to take the "risk".

So, does anyone have any simplified way of understanding all these new terms?

In Canada got Touch Wiz/Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update this weekend Galaxy Note 2.
